Kia Seltos Production Increased To 15,000 Units Per Month

Seeing the success of the Kia Seltos, the manufacturer has planned to increase its production up to 15,000 units per month.

Kia Motors has reportedly increased the production of Seltos to suffice for the growing demand. As of now, the bookings have crossed 60,000 units in just two months of it being launched in India. Seltos is the first offering from Kia, Hyundai’s sister brand.

Seeing the overwhelming response, Kia has decided to increase its production capacity to over 15,000 units. For this, Kia has commenced the second shift of production. In its first shift, around 10,000 units of Seltos are being produced, reportedly.

As of now, the waiting period of Seltos ranges between 15 days to 3.5 months, depending on the variant. With the increased production, we are definitely to see a reduced waiting period in the coming weeks.

The report further states that Kia is ready to commence its third shift if the demand increases. If there is a need for the third shift, the annual production capacity will be increased up to 4 Lakh units.

With all this popularity, Kia Motors has managed a market share of 3.5%. The sales of Seltos for the previous month stood at 7700 units, just a bit shy of the Hyundai Venue. Seltos is the third best-selling SUV in India, after Vitara Brezza and Venue.

The price range of Seltos starts off at Rs 9.69 Lakhs going up to Rs 16.99 Lakhs (Ex-showroom Delhi). The range includes a 1.5 Litre petrol engine, a 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol engine and a 1.5 Litre diesel engine, all BS-6 compliant. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual as standard with CVT for petrol, AT (Torque Converter) for diesel and a DCT gearbox for the turbo-petrol.

After this, Kia is bringing the Carnival MPV by January 2020. It will be a premium MPV priced around Rs 25 Lakhs. It will be positioned as an alternative choice to the Toyota Innova Crysta. In India, we will be getting the last generation Carnival.

At the 2020 Auto Expo, we might also see the sub-4 metre compact SUV from Kia either in a production form or a concept. The new SUV will be based on the platform of Hyundai Venue but will look completely different. It is likely to be launched by July 2020.
