KTM has reported sales of 41 unit of its recently launched Scalpel; Duke 790. The hyper naked is priced at Rs 8.64 Lakhs (ex-showroom pan-India).
In September, KTM launched the costly Duke 790 in India, priced at Rs 8.64 Lakhs. Only 100 units of the hyper naked have been bought in India, out of which the sales till now stand at 41 units.
In less than a month, the sales of KTM 790 Duke have reached a decent number, provided it is the costliest one in its segment. It goes against the likes of Suzuki GSX-S750, Kawasaki Z900, Ducati Monster 821 and Triumph Street Triple RS.
The Duke 790, otherwise known as Scalpel, is bought in through the CKD route. The bikes are assembled at KTM’s Chakan plant. As of now, it uses a BS-4 compliant engine, with the updated bikes launching by early 2020.

The Scalpel uses a 799cc parallel-twin cylinder liquid-cooled engine that produces 105 BHP and 86 Nm of peak torque. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with a bi-directional quick shifter for more precise gear shifts.
The suspension is handled by 43mm USD forks at the front and a pre-load adjustable monoshock at the back, both from WP. For braking, it uses dual disc brakes at the front and a single disc at the back, with dual-channel ABS. It further gets a Supermoto mode, where the advanced riders can disengage the ABS for a better thrill.
Other performance aids include a full TFT touchscreen console, lean-angle sensing traction control, four riding modes, a fully customizable Track mode, launch control, split LED headlamps and bosch-cornering ABS.

The Duke 790 is only available in nine cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, Pune, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Surat, Guwahati, and Chennai. The deliveries of the Scalpel have already commenced and by April 2020, it will be available in over 30 cities.
In other news regarding KTM, it is finally launching the 390 Adventure in India in the first week of December 2019. It is likely to be seen at the EICMA 2019 first, which will happen early next month. Following that, KTM is also launching the 250 Adventure and a new version of the Duke 200. KTM is not going to participate at the 2020 Auto Expo, so we are not going to see any new products over there.
