In this article, we tell you about the design, interiors, engine options, dimensions and price of the Renault Kwid Facelift

Renault Kwid instantly became popular in the market when it was first launched in 2015. The entry level hatchback from the French Manufacturer became the best selling of the lot, even beating the Duster.

Renault always introduced some minor changes to the Kwid and the major change was with the facelift when it was launched earlier this year. The hatchback takes design inspiration from the Renault K-ZE, electric car which is sold globally.

The facelifted Kwid comes with many changes with new interiors, design, dimensions and among others. Here in this article, we will tell you all the things you need to know about the Renault Kwid facelift.

Design

As said above, the design of the facelifted Kwid is inspired by the Renault K-ZE. It is an electric car which is sold in the Chinese markets. The front fascia of the hatchback carries a split headlight design which adds a character to the Kwid.

The LED daytime running lights at the top and main headlamp unit at the bottom makes the Kwid attractive. The car also has a Triber edition but that will be launched at a later stage.

The regular trims of the facelifted Kwid come with steel wheels but the Triber edition will come with alloy wheels finished in gunmetal grey. Also, the wheel size for the Kwid has also been uplifted from 13 inches to 14 inches now.

The rear profile also sees redesigned bumpers and now sees the addition of reflectors inside them. The top spec Triber edition also receives orange inserts which can be reflected all over the car.

Dimensions

It is not only the design which makes the new Kwid a looker. The facelifted version has also grown in size and the height of the same is also increased. Let’s compare this with the old Kwid

Area Of Measurement  New Kwid Facelift Renault Kwid (Old) Difference
Length 3731mm 3679mm +52mm
Width 1579mm 1579mm None
Height 1474-1490mm 1478 mm -4mm to +12mm
Wheelbase 2422mm 2422mm None
Ground clearance 184mm 180mm +4mm

The chart above clearly depicts how the new Kwid differentiates from the old one. For starters, it gets a good 4mm ground clearance which makes the new version to tackle bad goods better than the old one.

Furthermore, the length of the car is increased by 52 mm. It was 3679 mm earlier but with the new model, it stands at 3731 mm. This makes the current generation Kwid longer than before.

It is the width and the wheelbase which remains the same that is 1579 mm and 2422 mm. The cabin space is similar to the one found in the previous gen but we expect an increase in knee room due to the increase in the length of the car.

Interiors

Like the exteriors, the cabin of the facelifted Kwid receives a major overhaul. The interiors follow the same design pattern but now with added orange inserts, this adds to a minimalistic approach.

The entry level hatchback now also receive a new 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system which gets connectivity features like Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth Connectivity. This unit is borrowed from the Triber, a 7-seater car.

Other bits on the interior include the removal of glove box from the passenger side of the dashboard and instead, it comes with an optional front passenger airbag. The storage tray too is now missed out from the passenger side of the dashboard. The digital instrument cluster of the Kwid is similar to as seen on the new Triber.

Engine Options

The facelifted Kwid uses the same BS4 compliant petrol engines. It comes with a standard 800cc and a bigger 1000cc engine. The 0.8-litre, naturally aspirated petrol motor churns out 54 bhp on tap with 71 Nm of peak torque. The ARAI certified mileage sticks to 25 km/l.

The bigger 1.0-litre engine gets 63 bhp on tap along with 91 Nm of peak torque. The fuel efficiency for this motor sticks to 23 km/l. Transmission option for both the engine gets paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the bigger unit also receives an AMT gearbox.
