Maruti Ertiga Gets Three Stars In NCAP Crash Test

Among the four cars tested in the NCAP crash test, the Maruti Ertiga has secured the highest ranking with three stars safety onboard.

In the recently concluded #SafeCarsForIndia campaign, Maruti Ertiga has managed to score three stars in the crash test. The new MPV has scored three stars for both adults as well as child occupancy.

The body of Ertiga was rated as borderline unstable and unable to take further loading. Out of 17 points for child occupancy, the MPV managed to score 9.25 points. In terms of child occupancy, it managed around 25.16 points out of 49.

The head of the driver and front passenger were marked safe. The chest area for the driver was marginal but that for the passenger was marked good. Due to the positioning of the pedals, the foot area was also marked unsafe for both.

As for the child occupancy, Maruti Ertiga offered good protection to the dummy child. The poor areas for the child were head and chest. To be noted, the Ertiga does not come with a three-point seatbelt for the second-row middle seat.

The new Ertiga comes with features such as dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, speed alert system and driver and front passenger seat belt reminder as standard fitment. The top-end variants come with a rear parking camera as well.

Talking about its rivals, the Mahindra Marazzo is safer as it has scored four stars in the test. As for the Renault Lodgy, it has failed the crash test with 0 stars in terms of child occupancy as well as adult occupancy.

In India, the safest car is Tata Nexon with a complete five-star safety rating. Following the leader, are cars like Maruti Vitara Brezza, Mahindra Marazzo, Toyota Etios and more. Cars like Maruti Swift, Datsun Redi-GO and Renault Kwid have scored poorly in the tests.
