The overall response of the MG Hector is so overwhelming that the company hiked the prices of SUV by up to Rs 40k when the bookings reopened
MG Motors made its debut with the Hector, and the mid-size SUV became so popular that after 28000 booking numbers, the bookings were temporarily closed. Now, recently the news was that the production has been increased by 50% and the bookings were open too for the MG Hector.
New information suggests that the production of the MG Hector has crossed over 10,000 units. The manufacturers announced on 5th Sept that they have crossed about 5,000 units. And now down the line after 45 days, the company has announced that they have completed the production of 5000 units more.
MG India has also boosted up the production to 3000 units and the bookings mark for the SUV is already over 40k units. And till date, more than 6000 units of the Hector has been sold in the Indian market.

Now with the increased booking numbers, the manufacturer will also boost up the production of the SUV. They are currently based in Halol, Gujarat and working in single shifts. It is being reported that by November, they will double shift with the production of the Hector.
MG Hector is available in three engines – two petrol and one diesel motor. And recent sales report has concluded that both the engines are selling with the ratio of 50:50!
Talking about the 2.0-litre, FCA sourced, turbocharged diesel engine first then it comes with the Jeep Compass and Tata Harrier. It churns out 170 bhp on tap along with 350 Nm of peak torque. Here, the transmission sticks only to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

The 1.5L petrol engine makes about 143 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. This same engine is also equipped with a 48V mild hybrid system. Transmission option sticks to a 6-speed manual for both of the engines, however, the regular petrol also gets a 7-speed DCT gearbox. Also, with the mild hybrid engine, the fuel efficiency increases by 12%.
MG Hector competes with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500, Tata Harrier and the recently launched Kia Seltos. Both Hector and Seltos are the debutants in India. The prices of the MG Hector starts at Rs 12.48 lakh and the top spec trim reaches up to Rs 17.28 lakh. All prices stick to ex-showroom, Delhi.
