Reports reveal that Hero Motocorp has not produced a single unit of the Karizma, leading us to assume that its end might be very near.
Hero Karizma has reportedly not been produced from the last six months. Between April 2019 to September 2019, not a single unit has been made. Is this a silent sign for the discontinuation of the iconic Hero Karizma?
Reports suggest that no unit of Karizma has been sold since February. A couple of months back, Hero confirmed that it has been put on hold for the Indian market. But, Hero will continue to export the Karizma to foreign markets, where its demand is high. However, the data reveals that the Karizma has not even been exported in these six months.
Hero’s latest offering, the Xtreme 200S fits as a replacement to the ageing Karizma. Unlike the semi-fairing on the oldie, the Xtreme came with a fully faired styling. The power figures were nearly the same, but the prices of the Xtreme were comparatively lower.

Hero launched the Karizma back in 2003, as a sporty looking motorcycle for the youngsters. It was affordable and was mainly promoted by Hrithik Roshan at that time. It became an instant hit.
The next-gen Karizma ZMR also did fairly well as it was even sportier and offered some more features. While the first-gen ruled the market, it was the most powerful offering from the manufacturer.
It comes with a 223cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine that produces 20.2 BHP of power and 19.7 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox. I guess the power figures are alright.

Karizma directly goes against the likes of Pulsar 220F, which is another semi-faired sportsbike. The latter is still one of the best selling motorcycles in the Pulsar brand, as it appeals to the younger crowd.
Now, Hero Motocorp has launched the Xtreme 200S, which is a better-looking model and also gets more features. It has replaced the Karizma, but if Hero has not stopped it, what’s next for the legend?
Priced at Rs 1.08 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi), it doesn’t get ABS as its mandatory update. Does the Karizma have a future in India? That we are about to find out as the time passes. Till that time, Karizma will always be cherished at a segment creator.
