Porsche has already added another variant to the all-new Taycan line-up in the form of the Taycan 4S, designed to sit below the Turbo and Turbo S models in terms of performance but outgunning those cars when it comes to maximum range.
The Taycan 4S uses the same dual-motor drivetrain layout as the Turbo cars, but peak power is capped at 523bhp owing to a less powerful rear motor. Porsche claims 0-62mph in 4.0 seconds with top speed limited electronically to 155mph.
As standard, the Taycan 4S features a smaller battery than the Turbo cars with a 79.2kWh cell sandwiched underneath the floor. With this standard battery pack, Porsche claims a maximum range of 252 miles as recorded under WLTP. The Taycan 4S can be optioned with the 93.4kWh battery from the Turbo and Turbo S though, unlocking 287 miles on a single charge and possessing the longest range of the Taycan line-up.
The 79.2kWh battery can recharge at a maximum of 225kW, with 270kW maximum enabled with the larger battery.
The Taycan 4S loses some of the Turbo’s external fripperies with a simpler exterior design. The front and rear aprons are toned down and it receives a new set of 19-inch wheels. Porsche Dynamic System Plus LED headlights are standard. The interior carries over though, with a 10.9-inch central infotainment screen and partial leather upholstery as standard.
Under the metal, the 4S is equipped with Porsche 4D Chassis Control and also features adaptive air suspension by default, with PASM electronic damper control.
The Taycan 4S is on sale in the UK now, priced from £83,367 before any UK government subsidies. First deliveries will commence in January 2020.
