The Porsche Cayenne Coupe is taking longer to arrive to our shores than expected but that wait will certainly be over before the end of this year. And it should be worth it!
We had earlier reported that Porsche would be launching the Cayenne Coupe in India by October of this year. Now, we have come to learn that the launch of the Cayenne Coupe has been scheduled for December, 2019. Well, its certain that this Coupe-SUV will be launched before the end of this year and we can tell you it really has a raging heart.
The Cayenne Coupe is literally the coupe version of the standard Cayenne, as the name already suggests. It features a sloping roof-line which is 20mm lower than the Cayenne. Even with its sloping roofline and redesigned rear end, the Cayenne Coupe seems oddly proportionate and perhaps the better looking one in between the SUV and Coupe. And that usually is not the case with SUVs turned into coupes. But Porsche seems to have done a brilliant job with the design of the Cayenne Coupe and India will certainly like it.
The Cayenne Coupe will also feature a glass roof as standard although you could spec it up with a carbon fiber roof. It also gets an adaptive rear spoiler on the tail gate along with the roof mounted spoiler seen on the standard Cayenne. The Cayenne Coupe is also 18mm wider at the rear with a wider rear track as well.
The Porsche Cayenne Coupe would be available with two engine options in India – a base 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 with 340PS and 450Nm torque and a Turbo variant powered by a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 with 550PS and 770Nm of torque. Both engines come paired to an 8-speed automatic gearbox with all-wheel drive as standard. There will also be a top-spec Cayenne Turbo S e-Hybrid Coupe with the 680PS V8 PHEV powertrain that could be introduced at a later stage.
As for the performance, the base Cayenne Coupe will do the 0-100 kph sprint in flat 6.0 seconds. As for the top-spec Cayenne Coupe Turbo with the V8 engine, it will do the 0-100 kph sprint in a mere 3.9 seconds with a top speed of 286 kph. It also features unique 20-inch wheels and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard. A bench seat comes as standard in the rear while the 2+2 layout is optional.

Inside, the cabin layout remains similar to the standard Cayenne. You get the typical Porsche instrument cluster with two digital screens on the two sides of the analog tachometer. The dashboard is garnished with a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and the center console now feature a haptic touch pad which eliminates the slew of buttons on the center console for a much neater layout. And yes, the old-school clock at the crest of the dashboard is still present.

This is Porsche’s first take on a Coupe-SUV after a lot of the other manufacturers have made it quite a trend now, particularly BMW. The Porsche Cayenne Coupe will take on the likes of the BMW X6 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe here in India. Although, there has been no official indication on prices, you can expect the Cayenne Coupe to be priced something in between Rs. 1.5-2 crores, ex-showroom in India.
