CFMoto will bebringing brand new 300cc, 400cc, 650cc and 700cc motorcycles to India after they have upgraded their current BS4 lineup to BS6 emission norms.
CFMoto, the Chinese bikemaker who recently started operations in India, have opened their first dealership in India in Thane, Mumbai. At the event, the CEO of CFMoto India has revealed the company’s dealerships expansion plans and also gave an insight about the future motorcycles we could be expecting from the brand, which includes an entire range of motorcycles with 300cc, 400cc, 650cc and 700cc.
CFMoto currently sells the 300NK, 650NK, 650MT and 650GT in India and all these models are BS4 compliant. The brand will however be replacing the entire lineup with BS6 models closer to the April 2020 deadline when the emission norms kick in. Once the brand has shifted to BS6 model, they will focus on bringing new motorcycles for the Indian market. The new range will have motorcycles with engine capacities ranging from 300cc to 700cc.
Post the BS6 transition, the brand plans to launch one new motorcycle every quarter. It will also launch the 300 SR faired motorcycle towards the end of 2020. The next probable motorcycle from CFMoto could be the 400NK and 400GT that they could be bringing India. CFMoto also showcased the new 700 CX-L at the EICMA 2019 and we are hoping that will definitely be on the list. 700cc retro motorcycle comes in three variants: Heritage, Adventure and Sport. We are expecting the road-focused Sport variant to be launched in India first.

The company is also working on a new electric motorcycle but that is still some time away. CFMoto hasn’t revealed any particular details about the motorcycle but they have said it will be a performance-oriented electric motorcycle and will be competitively priced. CFMoto will however be getting in its range of electric bicycles to India.

Currently, CFMoto motorcycles are brought into the country via the CKD route. There is no localization of parts as of now but the company intends to achieve 50% localization in the coming 18 months. At first, consumables and regular wear and tear items like clutch cables, brake components, tyres and wiring harness will be localised. Going forward, the plan is to completely localize the motorcycle except for the frame and the engine. Maximum localisation will help reduce motorcycle and spare part prices. While initial CFMoto motorcycles might not benefit from localisation, spare parts will be cheaper. What it will do is help price future models more competitively and also offset the expected BS6 price hike.
