The Husqvarna Vitpilen and Svartpilen are based on the KTM 390’s platform and they have already been spotted testing in India on a couple of occasions. The interesting fact is that both these tester motorcycles have gone back to the company with certain issues? How do we know that? Well, that is because both the motorcycles have been updated with cosmetic and mechanical changes, as was previewed at the EICMA 2019.

So what did Husqvarna decipher of their testings of these two motorcycles. From the looks of it, the pillion seat wasn’t enough accommodating earlier. That is why, Husqvarna had to rework on the bolt-on subframe for the Vitpilen and Svartpilen 401. The allow for the extra room on the pillion seat, the rear of the motorcycles got longer by 40mm. And since they were at updating the motorcycle, they also thought it could do with a refreshing look for the year 2020. That is why they have also introduced new paint schemes on the motorcycle.

Otherwise, the motorcycles remain pretty much unchanged. Both the Vitpilen and Svartpilen 401 share the same 373cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine seen on the KTM 390 Duke and RC 390. It puts out 43.5PS of peak power and a maximum torque output of 37Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. The Husky Twins, as they are popularly known, are underpinned by a steel trellis frame. As for cycle parts, the motorcycle gets upside down fork and a monoshock sourced from WP. The motorcycles also come with disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

Now if you were wondering what is it that differentiates these twins, they are essentially the tires. The Vitpilen features road-baised tyres wrapped around 17-inch rims while the Svartpilen gets dual-purpose tyres in the same wheel sizes. The bikes will have a premium positioning in India. The Vitpilen 401 is expected to be priced around Rs 3.20 lakh while the Svartpilen 401 may set you back by around Rs 3.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Some dealerships have already unofficially started taking bookings for the Husky twins for a token amount of Rs. 5,000.
