The 2020 Skoda Octavia gets completely redesigned interiors, the layout of which has been made to mimic the Skoda Butterrfly grille with a minimalistic design approach.
Skoda will be globally unveiling the 2020 Octavia sedan very soon on November 11. The brand has already teased us with an exterior design sketch of the new Octavai, and from the looks of it, we do really like it. The 2020 Skoda Octavia draws design cues from the Superb and it gets a long and swooping bonnet. The split head lamp design is gone and in place comes a new single headlamp cluster design that we first saw on the Scala and a wider butterfly grille. The exterior design of the Octavia look pretty stately and apt for this class, but what about the interiors of the 2020 Skoda Octavia.
Well, Skoda has now teased us with a sketch image of the interiors of the 2020 Octavia. And it boasts of a brand new design language which we really like. But we will admit from what we can see in this image that there’s an uncanny resemblance to the new-generation BMW interiors like we see in the 3-series. Nevertheless, the interiors have been completely revamped and it looks quite sophisticated indeed.
To begin with, the 2020 Octavia gets a new two-spoke steering wheel and the newly shaped dashboard is split into several levels. In fact, if you look closely, the way the lines and colours are fashioned below the large and free-standing central display, it alludea to the shapes characteristic of the Skoda radiator grille. The sketch also suggests about the roominess of the cabin. There’s also a new digital instrument cluster and a rather large touchscreen infotainment display which seems to be a 10-inch screen. The central console have been kept relatively neat.

Oliver Stefani, head of Skoda Design says, “The shape of the dashboard has been inspired by the typical Skoda face and offers support for your hand when you are using the free-standing central display. We have also created a brand new design for the steering wheel and, for the first time, our automatic transmission features a shift-by-wire system, which has enabled us to design a central console with a completely new feature. This has influenced a lot of the interior design, too.”

The new Octavia is based on Volkswagen group’s MQB platform and is expected to be larger and more spacious than its predecessor. Under the hood, it will feature a range of turbo-petrol and diesel engines, along with mild-hybrid technology. The new Octavia will go on sale internationally by early 2020. It is expected to arrive in India sometime late next year and will likely be offered only with a petrol engine. Transmission options will continue to be a choice of manual and DSG automatic units, as with the Octavia currently on sale.
