The EICMA motorcycle show in Milan, Italy is one of the most hotly anticipated events on a motorcycle enthusiasts calendar. And this year’s iteration of the EICMA has seen numerous exciting new launches, concepts and a couple of surprises too. The good news is that quite a few are headed on their way to India as well. So here we have compiled a list of the Top 10 motorcycles from the EICMA 2019 that are headed to our shores very soon.
KTM 390 Adventure
The KTM 390 Adenture has been one of the most awaited motorcycles from KTM with numerous sightings and spy hots. It has finally been unveiled at EICMA and it has received mixed reception. It will be powered by the same engine from the Duke 390 but it gets long-travel, adjustable suspension at both ends, a more relaxed steering geometry and 19-inch/17-inch front-rear alloy wheel combo. It also equipped with dual-purpose Continental tyres and while its not a hard core off-roader, its more suited to touring. What could turn customers away from this motorcycle in India is its rather tall 855mm seat height. KTM will be unveiling the 390 Adventure at the India Bike Week next month, along with the 250 Adventure as well.
Honda CBR1000RR-R Fireblade
Honda has unveiled their flagship liter-class motorcycle – the CBR-1000RR-R and CBR-1000RR-R SP – at the EICMA 2019. What has always been the Achilles heel of this motorcycle is the lack of outright horsepower. Honda has answered that in huge measures. The new motorcycle belts out an an earth-shattering 217.5PS and 113Nm from its 999.9cc inline-4 cylinder engine. It is also huge on aerodynamics with new ‘Blade aerodynamic winglet pods’ and it has also been comprehensively updated with an IMU-assisted electronics package as well. Honda will bring the CBR-1000RR-R and CBR-1000RR-R SP to India next year, but expect a variant-on-variant price increase of around Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.2 lakh.
Aprillia RS 660
Aprillia has stormed into the middle-weight motorcycle segment with the new RS 660 which was first showcased in concept form at EICMA last year. This motorcycle’s engine literally comes from chopping the RSV4’s 1100cc motor in half and retaining the forward bank of cylinders. It puts out 100PS of power and comes with an extensive electronics package which includes traction control, five riding modes, wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake control and a quickshifter. It also gets sophisticated underpinnings from Kayaba with 41mm upside-down forks and a directly-mounted rear monoshock, both fully-adjustable. We expect Aprilia to bring the bike to India next year as a CBU import.
Kawasaki Z650
Kawasaki’s stand at EICMA mostly consisted of motorcycles that has received a Euro5 compliance. One of the most important among them for India is the new Kawasaki Z650. It continues with the same parallel-twin engine which still puts out 68PS of power but torque output has reduced by 1.7Nm and now stands at 64Nm. Interestingly, it has also shed 3 kg weight from before, now having a kerb weight of 187 kg. The Z650 now also gets a new 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and an LED headlight. Kawasaki is expected to bring this motorcycle next year and since its not much heavy on updates, the price should remain near about the same.
Kawasaki Z900
Sticking with Kawasaki, the Z900 has also received a near similar treatment. The engine has been updated to be Euro5 compliant but it still produces the same at 125PS and 98.6Nm. Like the Z650, the Z900 also comes with a new 4.2-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and all LED lighting. However, the biggest news on the Z900 is that Kawasaki has finally updated the electronics on this motorcycle. It now gets four riding modes, two power modes and a three-level traction control system. When this bike is launched in India next week, it is expected to be about Rs. 1 lakh more expensive than the current motorcycle.
Benelli Leoncino 800
Benelli launched the Leoncino 500 and 250 in India and we were quite impressed with both the motorcycles. Now Benellli has finally unveiled the Leoncino 800 at the EICMA 2019. While looks are pretty much similar to the Leoncino 500, the 80-0 is powered by a 754cc parallel-twin motor from the 752S. The engine is Euro5 compliant and it produces 81.6PS and 67Nm. It is underpinned by a trellis frame and it runs on wire-spoke wheels with tubeless-type rims. We can expect a price of around Rs 7.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Benelli Leoncino 800.
BMW F 900 R and F 900 XR
BMW has unveiled a new entrant in the middleweight naked segment in the form of the F 900 R. It is a streetfighter sibling of the recently unveiled F 900 XR which in turn is based on the Concept 9cento shown by BMW last year. Both the motorcycles are powered by an upsized version of the 854cc parallel-twin engine from the F 850 GS. The engine now displaces 895cc and belts out 105PS and 92Nm. The XR variant is a sports tourer and gets a small front screen and fairing as well as more upright ergonomics and long-travel suspension. BMW is expected to bring both these motorcycles to India and they are expected to be priced around Rs 11 lakh and 12 lakh for the R and XR respectively (ex-showroom).
Ducati Panigale V2
Ducati showcased the Panigale V2 at the EICMA 2019, although it was unveiled earlier at the Ducati World Premiere last month. The Panigale V2 essentially receives Euro5 compliance and it now produces 5PS more than before, final figures standing at 155PS and 104Nm from the V2 engine. It also gets a new colour TFT display with a comprehensive upgrade to the IMU-assisted electronics package. The motorcycle remains mechanically unchanged otherwise. This is currently the only Ducati motorcycle to be Euro5 complaint and we expect the V2 to make its way to India soon at a price of Rs 16.5 lakh to Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).

CFMoto 700CL-X
CFMoto, the Chinese bikemaker has unveiled the new 700CL-X scrambler motorcycle. It is powered by a 692cc parallel-twin engine which puts out 75PS of power and 66.6Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox via a slipper clutch. It will be available in three variants and the Adventure variant even gets off-road tyres. All varinats come with long travel suspension at both ends. CFMoto is expected to bring this motorcycle to our shores soon and going by their trend, pricing should be very aggressive too, somewhere around the Rs 7.5 lakh mark (ex-showroom).

Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401
Husqvarna has been in the talks of releasing the Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 in India for quite some time now. These bikes have been caught testing in India and they were showcased at EICMA with some minor changes. The bolt-on rear subframe has been modified and is now 40mm longer, in the interest of pillion comfort. The motorcycles also get a new paint scheme but other than that, they remain unchanged. The 401 twins have the same underpinnings as the KTM Duke 390 and they even share the same engine with same power outputs. The Swedish brand will enter the Indian market next year and we can expect pricing around the Rs 3 lakh rupee mark (ex-showroom) for the 401s.
