Audi RS5 Coupe and Sportback Facelift Unveiled Globally!

The Audi RS5 Coupe and Sportback facelift are the last RS models from Audi this year and it is expected to come to India next year as a direct import.

Audi has already unveiled numerous RS models this year and they still do not seem to have got enough of it. Audi has now taken the wraps off the RS5 Coupe and RS5 Sportback facelift. Audi says that the 2020 RS5 facelift is the final update for Audi’s high performance RS range in 2019. The 2020 Audi RS5 facelift packs in whole host of updates and let’s look at it in a little more detail.

Let’s start with the visual differences first. And they are quite subtle, frankly, one that you could easily miss if you do not have a trained eye. For starters, the 2020 RS5 facelift gets a slightly wider honeycomb mesh grille while the headlamps are similar to the A5 facelift. The air dams in the bumpers below have been redesigned and they are more aggressive than before. In profile, the refreshed version comes with wider wheel arches for a more aggressive stance and the restyled alloy wheels further add to the sportiness. At the rear, the RS5 facelift gets new LED tail lamps and a sportier rear bumper.

On the inside, the new model has a dashboard similar to its predecessor and thankfully so. Audi hasn’t gone for the dual screen setup like we are seeing in most newer Audis these days. However, the infotainment system loses the swivel wheel and can now only be operated via the touchscreen. It comes with the latest MMI system with revised graphics as well. This being an RS model, there are RS specific touches like an RS-specific Virtual Cockpit that comes with a revised layout and several RS badges throughout the cabin.

Mechanically, the RS5 facelift remains similar to its predecessor. It continues to be powered by a 2.9-litre V6 engine that develops 450bhp of power and 600Nm of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox and power is sent to all four wheels. The RS5 can sprint from 0-100 in just 3.8 seconds and has a tops-speed of 280 kph. As standard, the RS5 comes equipped with standard RS suspension that’s more stiffer than the A5’s setup. You can also opt for sport differential at the rear axle which distributes power equally.

The 2020 Audi RS5 facelift will go on sale in Germany and elsewhere in Europe shortly. Audi brings the current RS5 Coupe to India as a direct import and we expect the facelifted model will make it to our shores pretty soon as well. In India, the Audi RS5 competes against the likes of the Mercedes-AMG C63S and BMW M3.
