BS-6 Hyundai Verna India Launch To Happen In January – Report

Hyundai is reportedly launching the BS-6 compliant Verna petrol by the Auto Expo 2020. It will use Seltos’s new 1.5 Litre petrol engine.

A fresh report states that BS-6 Hyundai Verna petrol will be launched before the Auto Expo 2020 commences, mostly in January. The BS-6 Verna will be based on the current outgoing version and not the upcoming facelift showcased in the global markets.

Hyundai will use the BS-6 compliant 1.5 Litre petrol engine from the Kia Seltos. The engine produces 115 BHP and 144 Nm of peak torque and the same specs will be seen on the Verna. It is likely to get transmission options of a 6-speed manual and a CVT gearbox.

There are rumours as well that some dealers have unofficially stopped taking bookings for the BS-4 models and is allowing buyers to book for BS-6 models. We are yet to confirm on this development and will revert on it soon.

The BS-6 diesel engine will directly come on the Verna facelift, that will be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. Its launch is expected to happen by March-April 2020. The new engine will also be Seltos’s 1.5 Litre diesel engine.

The 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine will produce 115 BHP and 250 Nm of peak torque. It is likely to come with a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AT. The last engine in question is the 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol unit from the Seltos. There are chances of new Verna getting the 140 PS-producing turbo-petrol unit, paired with a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT.

Along with the new engines, the BS-6 Hyundai Verna facelift will get a complete makeover. The front and rear bumpers will be redesigned and the facelift will look even sharper. New alloy wheels and refreshed interiors are also a part of the makeover.

New features onboard could include floating touchscreen infotainment with Blue Link technology, flat-bottom steering wheel and upmarket upholstery quality. The Verna is already the most feature equipped in its segment.

Expect the prices to increase by Rs 10,000-20,000 for BS-6 petrol. Once the facelift comes, the price hike can be up to Rs 50,000 provided all the upgrades that it gets.
