Ford – Mahindra JV Will Not Offer Cross-Badged Cars In India

In a recent report, Ford and Mahindra have confirmed that they would not sell rebadged cars in India, just share the technologies to develop their own cars.

A couple of months earlier, Ford and Mahindra entered a joint venture to exchange their technologies as well as some of their models. Through this JV, Ford is planning to increase its sales in the Indian market.

There were reports that both of them will cross-badge their cars for sale. However, Mahindra officials have confirmed that this will not happen. Both of them will just share certain things like engines, platforms and technologies for developing their individual cars.

Ford is going to develop a C-Segment SUV, which will be based on the platform of the 2020 XUV 500. The latter will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo. Similarly, next year, we might also see Ford’s rival for Jeep Compass, Tata Harrier and MG Hector.

Similarly, Ford and Mahindra are also developing a new B-Segment SUV, through their respective houses. Both the brands will share the platforms and the engines, but their SUVs will be completely different from each other.

Both of them could have a completely different design language altogether. The feature lists, as well as the exact pricing, will be different for both. Sharing of some components reduces the production cost of both companies.
