Here’s How The New Maruti Suzuki Ignis Facelift Looks Like!

Maruti is going to launch the Ignis facelift nearing Auto Expo 2020, with a host of exterior changes and a new 1.2 Litre BS-6 petrol engine.

Maruti Suzuki started its BS-6 launches very early and is close to having an entire BS-6 range. The manufacturer will be launching the BS-6 Ignis, Vitara Brezza and S-Cross by the next two months, most likely at the 2020 Auto Expo.

Ahead of that, the styling of the new Maruti Ignis Facelift has been leaked. The cross-hatch will get its first-ever facelift since its launch in January 2017. Maruti bought it in as a replacement to the Ritz and wedged it between the Swift and Baleno.

Going by the new photo of the Maruti Ignis Facelift, it gets a new front bumper which looks bolder and a lot more dominating. While the headlamps and DRL styling remains the same, it gets a new horizontal slat chrome grille, similar to what seen on S-Presso. The facelift looks more beefed up, true to a crossover styling.

We can expect some refreshments made inside the cabin as well. New dashboard design and some changes to the upholstery can be done. To make the Ignis a more attractive offer, Maruti might add some new colour options and dual-tone paint jobs as well.

Maruti will equip the Ignis Facelift will the new 1.2 Litre petrol engine with SHVS Smart-Hybrid system. The engine comes with the Baleno and is already BS-6 compliant. The motor is capable of producing 89 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque, with a 5-speed MT.

Earlier, the Ignis was launched with a diesel engine as well. However, it’s close pricing to the Baleno made the Ignis Diesel a low-selling model. Since early 2018, the Ignis comes only with the petrol engine. Gearbox options include a 5-speed MT and a 5-speed AGS (AMT).

The Ignis currently starts off at Rs 4.74 Lakhs up to Rs 7.10 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The new Maruti Ignis Facelift is going to increase the prices by around Rs 10,000 so that its price does not get near to that of Baleno.
