Reports suggest that Kia Motors is readying up an all-electric SUV based on the Seltos, specifically for the Asian markets.
Kia Motors has commenced its India innings with the launch of Seltos. In just months of it being launched, the Seltos has become immensely popular and is now amongst the best-selling SUVs of India.
Now, reports from International media suggest that Kia Motors also wants its share in the EV space. In the global market, it has a couple of EVs including the Niro and Soul EV. However, the one incoming will be based on Kia Seltos.
The Electric Kia Seltos is reportedly being planned for Asian markets, including India. While it may be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo, the EV will first come in the Chinese market. China is currently one of the leaders in electric mobility.

The electric Kia Seltos might be shown as a concept in February, with its launch planned later. After recent entrants in the EV space from MG Motors, Hyundai and Tata Motors looks like Kia is also interested for that.
Kia’s parent brand, Hyundai already has the Kona EV being sold in India. Chances are that the electric Kia Seltos might take a helping hand from Kona. The dimensions of Kona are bigger than Venue but smaller than Creta. If this is the case, the Seltos might also be priced similar to the Kona.
As of now, the Hyundai Kona uses 39.2 kWh advanced lithium-ion polymer battery which produces 136 bhp with 394 Nm of peak torque. The car takes about 9.7 seconds to go from 0-100 km/h. The battery gets a liquid cooling technology. The driving range claimed by Hyundai is 452 kms.

In the upcoming products list, Kia has already confirmed two names. Next month, it will launch the Carnival MPV in India, which will be a premium 25-Lakhs plus MPV. Kia is also launching a new sub-compact SUV based on the Hyundai Venue. The latter is expected to be launched at the Auto Expo.
