While Hyundai is planning to bring in the new i20 in 2020, it might not showcase the new version at the upcoming Auto Expo.
In the global markets, Hyundai has commenced the testing of new generation 2020 i20. In comparison to the outgoing model, it gets a major design makeover with new engines and many more features as well.
While we were expecting Hyundai to showcase the new i20 at the upcoming 2020 Auto Expo, it may not be seen. New report reveals that while Hyundai may not show it in February, the new version will debut in India by mid-2020.
Hyundai has also commenced testing the upcoming i20 in India. Major changes to the front and rear bumper, new alloy wheels and a more cutting-edge look are some bits that will make the new design language of the i20.

Inside the cabin, it will get a fresh appearance with refreshed dashboard design and upholstery material as well. The touchscreen infotainment will be replaced by a new unit with a better interface and the Blue Link technology. Also, the new i20 will sport an electric sunroof, a segment-first feature.
Engine upgrades will include three new motors onboard. It will get the new 1.2 Litre BS-6 compliant engine from the Aura. Since the 1.4 Litre diesel unit will be discontinued, we can expect either the 1.2 Litre diesel engine from Nios or a heavily detuned version of the 1.5 Litre turbo-diesel unit from Seltos.
Reports also suggest that the new 2020 Hyundai i20 might get Venue’s 1.0 Litre turbo-petrol unit. The power figures for the turbo unit might be around 100-105 BHP, paired with a 7-speed DCT. Other options could include a 5-speed MT for petrol, a 6-speed MT for diesel and an automatic gearbox for both the engines.

At the 2020 Auto Expo, Hyundai is going to showcase the new generation Verna and Creta. Both of them follow Hyundai’s new design language as they look sharper than ever. Both of them will also get three new engines, including 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel units with a 1.4 Litre turbo-petrol unit. All of their engines will come from the Seltos.
