Royal Enfield seems to be working on two new motorcycles by the name of Sherpa and Hunter, which might be launched in 2020.
A couple of months back, we reported that Royal Enfield was working on new motorcycles built on different platforms, using different engine capacities. Looks like, we now have an idea of the new RE models coming in.
Royal Enfield has applied for patents under the name of Hunter and Sherpa. The Hunter has been cleared whereas Sherpa is still to be approved. As we told you last week, Royal Enfield is working on lighter and more affordable motorcycles, which could be one of these two.
In the 1960s, Royal Enfield had the Sherpa motorcycle running in the global market. It was a light-weight 173cc roadster motorcycle, basically a thinner Bullet. Looks like the lighter motorcycle that RE is developing, might be named Sherpa.

There is no previous model named as Royal Enfield Hunter. So, this comes as an all-new motorcycle and we believe that it might be RE’s new Scrambler-type roadster. As RE is specialized in retro-styled motorcycles, this particular specialization is untouched till now.
Both the motorcycles might run on the heavily revised 350cc engine that will power the new generations of Classic, Bullet and Thunderbird. Otherwise, reports suggest that RE is working on a 250cc engine that will be derived from the Himalayan’s 411cc engine.
Himalayan is reportedly getting a smaller engine option as well so that it could attract more buyers being cheaper. There have been rumours suggesting that the ADV could also get the 650cc Twin-cylinder engine from the Interceptor and GT 650.

Expect both these motorcycles to take shape post mid-2020 or by the end of next year. The Sherpa will replace the Bullet 350 S as the cheapest RE model in India. Expect it to be priced between Rs 1 Lakh to Rs 1.1 Lakhs.
As for the Hunter, it also won’t be high priced and might demand under 1.5 Lakhs. Meanwhile, RE is also going to launch the new generation Thunderbird, Classic and Bullet next year, all with 350cc engines and without the 500cc engines.
