BS6 TVS Apache RTR 160 Launched for a Price of Rs 93,500

The new BS6 TVS Apache RTR 160 gets fuel-injection, updated graphics and a slight bump in power and torque with price increasing by just Rs. 6,000.

TVS has launched its BS6-compliant Apache RTR 160 in India now. The rear drum variant of the BS6 TVS Apache RTR 160 is available for a price of Rs. Rs 93,500 while the rear disc variant is available for a price of Rs. Rs 96,500. The BS6 spec of this motorcycle sees a hike in price by Rs. 6,000 over its BS4 counterpart.

The BS6 Apache RTR 160 also gets a fuel injection system now as opposed to the carbureted engine in the BS4 motorcycle. Now this is a trend that we have seen with every motorcycle that has been updated to BS6 spec from BS4 spec. TVS tell us that this fuel-injection system is similar to the one we’ve seen on the new Apache 4Vs and it will also offer “Glide Through Technology for low-speed urban riding and enable a smooth and controlled ride.”

What comes as a surprise is that the BS6 spec Apache RTR 160 sees a bump in power and torque figures over its BS4 counterpart. Usually, all motorcycles have either seen a drop in performance outputs or have stayed identical with the switch to BS6, but the Apache RTR 160 seems to have done the opposite. The 159.7cc, single-cylinder, two-valve motor now makes 15.5hp and 13.9Nm of torque, up from 15.1hp and 13Nm. That said, these figures do come in quite a bit higher in the rev range.

The BS6 TVS Apache RTR 160 is available with the same six color options as before – Pearl White, Matte Blue, Matte Red, Gloss Black, Gloss Red and T Grey. However, the new motorcycle gets updated graphics for a more sportier look. Bookings for the motorcycle are now open at all TVS dealerships across the country.
