Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD Unveiled; Gets Styling Tweaks too!

The Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD gets the same 5.2L V10 engine as the standard Evo but produces 610 bhp and gets new bumpers and diffusers with new wheels as well.

Just like the pre-facelift Huracan had a rear-wheel drive version, Lamborghini has now introduced the new rear-wheel drive Huracan Evo supercar. The Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD uses the same 5.2 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine as the standard Evo but it has been de-tuned to produce 610bhp, 30 bhp down from the latter. That incidentally is also the power that the pre-facelift Huracan produced.

The powertrain produces 560Nm of torque at 6,500rpm, delivered entirely through the rear axle using a specially tuned version of Lamborghini’s Performance Traction Control System (P-TCS). Top speed is a claimed 325kph, with the 0-100kph sprint dispatched in 3.3sec. Lamborghini boss Stefano Domenicali said that the Evo RWD “reminds the driver of Lamborghini’s pure engineering origins,” while offering “unfiltered feedback, and an emotive and more engaging driving experience.”

The P-TSC system continues with the same Strada, Sport and Corsa drive modes as the all-wheel-drive Huracán. The system has however been tuned to continue torque delivery while the car realigns itself after a drift. It is also programmed to deliver torque in advance, ensuring better traction when exiting a corner.

It is expected to join the Huracan range in India sometime in 2020.

The Lamborghini Huracan uses a RWD system and hence its lighter also. It tips the scale at 1,389kg (dry) and that is 33 kgs less than the standard Huracan all-wheel drive Evo. That gives the car a 40/60 weight distribution and maintains a double-wishbone suspension with passive shock absorbers. The Lamborghini Dynamic Steering system is also tuned for the Evo RWD to increase driver feedback.

The rear-wheel drive setup is not the only change with new Huracan RWD. There are subtle but significant styling changes which includes a front splitter and front air intake. The rear bumper also features a new diffuser design. There are also new 19-inch Pirelli P Zero tyres, with optional 20-inchers on offer. On the inside, the Huracan RWD gets the new 8.4-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple CarPlay, just like the standard Evo. Lamborghini already sells the standard Huracan Evo and the Spyder variants in India for Rs 3.73 crore and Rs 4.1 crore, respectively. Expect the Evo RWD to join the line-up sometime this year.
