Ahead of its launch next month, MG has revealed that it will name its big SUV as Gloster. It will be more premium than the Toyota Fortuner And Ford Endeavour.
MG just confirmed the introduction of a new big size SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. MG has confirmed that its upcoming SUV will be named Gloster. Gloster is the manufacturer’s 35 Lakhs plus big size SUV for India.
MG Gloster SUV will use a SAIC-developed new 2.0 Litre twin-turbo diesel engine. The motor produces 218 PS and 480 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be BS6 compliant from the launch itself. Transmission options will include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed torque converter AT.
It will be a massive 5,005mm long SUV with a wheelbase of 2950mm and width of 1932mm. MG might offer two seating configurations with Gloster, a 6-seater (2+2+2 Captain Seats) and a 7-seater (2+2 Captain Seats + 3-row bench).

Features expected onboard will include 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster, three-zone climate control, cooled/heated seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree camera on the range-topping trims.
Safety features will include six airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP and Isofix child-seat mounts. In the global markets, where it is known as Maxus D90, it gets autonomous braking, lane assist function and auto parking system as well. We are not sure if MG will bring these features on the India-spec.
As told earlier, it will create its own space in the segment, severely undercutting the prices of its rivals. To make its first impressions strong, MG will definitely price it aggressively despite offering many upmarket features.

Interestingly, it will be positioned in a segment above the Fortuner and Endeavour demanding around Rs 40 Lakhs (ex-showroom). With its dimensions and luxurious spacing, it will actually be a competitor for the Land Cruiser Prado and Jeep Grand Cherokee but costing less than half of their prices.
