Isuzu has postponed the launch of their BS6 compliant vehicles in India to second quarter of FY2021 due to coronavirus pandemic. That means the company will not have any vehicles on sale till the BS6 range is launched.
March 31, 2020 was scheduled as the original deadline for the sale and registration of BS4 vehicles in India. However, the coronavirus pandemic has disrupted all business and policies and how, the Supreme Court has granted a 10-day extension period for the sale and registration of BS4 vehicles after the lockdown is lifted. All vehicle manufacturers have ceased production and changed future plans. In case you were wondering why you haven’t heard about BS6 Isuzu vehicles, that’s because the manufacturer has not come out with any yet.
Isuzu has now announced that they have pushed the launch of the their BS6 compliant vehicles due to the coronavirus pandemic. Isuzu retails the D-Max pickup truck for commercial buyers and the V-Cross pickup and the MU-X SUV for private buyers in India. They are a niche player in the Indian market who has had only BS4 vehicles on sale till now. The manufacturer has retailed only 1,404 units of vehicles from April 2019 to February 2020.
The company has now announced that they will be launching BS6 compliant versions of the vehicles sometime in the second quarter of FY2021, i.e., between July and September 2020. Isuzu had already previously said that the BS6 compliant versions of the V-Cross and the MU-X SUV will see a hike in price by about Rs 3-4 lakhs and that’s quite a significant hike for an already niche brand.

Isuzu has currently exhausted all their BS4 stock in India. With only BS6 vehicles being allowed to be sold and registered from April (with the exception of unsold BS4 stock), the company will not have any vehicle for sale in India until the BS6 complaint versions are launched later in the year. For now, the company intends to focus only on exports, that is when operation resumes after the lockdown.

Additionally, for existing owners of its vehicles, Isuzu will also extend the validity of warranties and services due to expire between March 15 and April 15, to May 31, 2020. The last major happening from Isuzu was when they launched a facelift for the V-Cross pickup last year in India. The company has also introduced the next-generation of the V-Cross internationally but that will not likely come to India any time soon.
