8 Cars That You Were Waiting For But Are Delayed Due To Lockdown – List

Many cars were scheduled to be launched in the month of March and April and now, due to the lockdown, they have been delayed by an indefinite period.

Towards the end of BS4 deadline, many automakers had scheduled their launches. By launching it in March or April, the makers would have ensured that most of their existing BS4 inventory was sold and they could have a fresh start.

However, due to the country-wide lockdown, everything has been closed. The dealerships have been shut down and so have the manufacturing plants. So, here is the entire list of cars that were supposed to be launched, but now have been delayed due to the lockdown.

Honda City

Honda was supposed to unveil the new City on 17th March, followed by the launch in March itself. Now, we are expecting that it will directly debut in the month of May. The new City gets revised dimensions, new features, BS6 compliant engines and a completely tweaked design.

Honda WRV

Honda also listed the BS6 WRV on its website and opened the bookings too. Now, we are expecting Honda to launch it soon after the lockdown is over. It gets minor cosmetic tweaks, a couple of new features and BS6 compliant 1.2 Litre petrol and 1.5 Litre diesel engines.

Skoda Rapid

Skoda discontinued the Rapid with its existing petrol and diesel engines, to replace it with a new 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI unit. While the deliveries were scheduled to commence in the first week of April, now the launch stands delayed by unknown period.

Tata HBX

Tata HBX was not supposed to be launched in these months but by August. Now, because of the pandemic, the production has been halted and the launch has been pushed forward to FY 2021. HBX is Tata’s upcoming micro SUV and an answer to Mahindra KUV100.

Hyundai Tucson Facelift

After unveiling it at the Auto Expo 2020, Hyundai was set to launch the Tucson facelift towards the end of March. The mid-size SUV gets a refreshed styling, new features and BS6 compliant petrol and diesel engines.

Renault Duster Turbo

Renault showcased its new and exciting 1.3 Litre turbo-petrol engine at the Expo. The unit produces 156 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque, making it the most powerful SUV in its class. It was supposed to make it on road by April first week, but now stands delayed.

Mahindra XUV300 Sportz

Mahindra was going to launch the XUV300 Sportz, with a more powerful 1.2 Litre T-GDI turbo petrol unit. The engine produces 130 BHP and 230 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed MT. It was going to be launched sometime in April, but will now come once the lockdown is over.

Skoda Karoq TSI

Lastly, we have the Skoda Karoq TSI. While its better half, Volkswagen T-Roc has been launched already, the Karoq was scheduled to hit the roads in May. Karoq uses a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol TSI motor paired with a 7-speed DSG.
