BS6 Honda Civic And CRV Diesel Might Be Launched Later This Year

The BS6 norms have commenced and Honda has not updated the Civic and CRV Diesel. Both of them came with the same 1.6 Litre i-DTEC unit.

Honda relaunched the new-generation Civic in 2019 with BS6 petrol and a BS4 diesel engine. While we were expecting it to upgrade the diesel engine too before the norms. As of now, Honda has not upgraded the Civic and CRV with a BS6 diesel engine.

While there are many reports suggesting that the diesel mill has been put off completely. There are chances that this might be temporary and BS6 Honda Civic and CRV diesel will be launched sometime later this year. Probably, the process might have been delayed due to the ongoing pandemic.

Despite most of the Civic buyers preferring the petrol engine over diesel, the latter still is important in the lineup. Due to the increasing fuel prices, diesel cars are slowly gaining more buyers because they are easier on the pocket.

This engine comes mated to a CVT gearbox as standard. The diesel engine in question is a 1.6 Litre four-cylinder i-DTEC, producing 120 PS and 300 Nm of torque. It came mated to a 6-speed MT as standard.

As for the CRV, it gets a 2.0 Litre iVTEC engine, producing 154 PS and 189 Nm of torque. CRV used the same 1.6 Litre diesel engine, producing the same power figures. The petrol engine comes mated to a CVT whereas the diesel engine came with a 9-speed AT.

With CRV, we have also lost out the 7-seater version of it. While the CRV petrol is a 5-seater, the diesel variants offered two seats extra. Also, the diesel variants came with AWD whereas the petrol ones go with FWD as standard.
