BS6 MG Hector Could Experience Higher Waiting Period Due To Lockdown

MG has now launched the BS6 compliant Petrol as well as Diesel Hector in India. Only prices have been changed, the rest remains unchanged.

MG Motors launched the BS6 Petrol Hector well in time before the deadline and the novel coronavirus outbreak. The diesel one has been launched just now and deliveries of BS6 Hector will commence once the lockdown is over.

A statement from MG Motor India suggests that the manufacturer was completely ready for its BS6 transition. It has exhausted its entire BS4 stock over the country. The production of BS6 stocks had just commenced and then the pandemic broke out.

However, the company says that the supply of BS6 MG Hector has been affected due to the prevailing situations. Dealerships have low inventory of the BS6 Hector left which will be dispersed for customers who had their deliveries pending before the outbreak.

Now every auto manufacturer has stopped the production, all of them will face problems in sales as well as deliveries. As for the BS6 MG Hector, the buyers should be prepared for a higher waiting period now. The exact waiting period will be known once the dealership is open.

The prices of BS6 Hector commence at Rs 12.74 Lakhs up to Rs 17.44 Lakhs for the petrol, petrol-hybrid and DCT variants. The BS6 diesel variants are priced from Rs 13.88 Lakhs up to Rs 17.73 Lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi). The price hike has been limited between Rs 26,000 to Rs 45,000.

Hector uses a 1.5 Litre four-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 143 PS and 250 Nm of peak torque. The diesel engine is an FCA-sourced 2.0 Litre turbo unit which puts out 170 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, the petrol engine has been grouped with a small electric motor as an option.

All the three engines go with 6-speed MT as standard while the petrol variants get an option of a 7-speed DCT. MG is believed to possibly update the Hector with SAIC’s 2.0 Litre turbo diesel engine which is more powerful. It might happen sometime later this year or in 2021.
