Here Are Few Motorcycles Still Left To Receive Their BS6 Update

Manufacturers like Honda, TVS and Kawasaki are still left to update some of their motorcycles to BS6 compliance but right now everything stands delayed due to coronavirus.

We have finally stepped into the BS6 era and even though the government has extended the deadline for the sale and registration of BS4 vehicles after the lockdown is lifted for 10 days, it shouldn’t make that much of a difference. While most two-wheeler manufacturers have already updated their entire lineup with BS6 motorcycles, there are still some popular motorcycles that haven’t received their BS6 update. Here’s a list of motorcycles that are still pending their BS6 update.

Honda CB Hornet 160R and XBlade

Honda was the first manufacturer to launch a BS6 two-wheeler in the country with the BS6 Activa 125. Having said that, there are quite a few models in Honda’s lineup that are still left to receive the update. Among them, are the Honda CB Hornet 160R and the XBlade. Now Honda has already launched the BS6 Unicorn with the same 160cc engine that’s featured on these motorcycles. If not both, one of them will surely survive in the BS6 era as they are popular models. Perhaps if not for the lockdown, Honda might have already launched these motorcycles.

Honda Grazia 125

Among Honda’s scooters that are still left for the BS6 update is the Grazia 125. Although this is a stylish looking scooter, it hasn’t been well received in the market. We wouldn’t be surprised if Honda does not come out with a BS6 version of this scooter at all. However, if it does get its SB6 update, we expect the Grazia 125 to be introduced with new features such as ACG starter and Idling Stop System from the Activa 125 BS6.

Benelli Imperiale 400

Benelli was supposed to launch the Imperiale 400 BS6 next month but it now stands postponed due to coronavirus until further notice. The Imperiale 400 was going to be the first BS6 motorcycle from the manufacturer. We however do not expect any other significant change on the motorcycle other than BS6 compliance including its equipment list and styling. While we do not expect a full-fledged launch, Benelli India could announce prices with deliveries likely to begin in the second half of the year.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 is one of the first true sports bike in the country. The Ninja 300 is a really popular performance motorcycle in India owing to its low price, particularly as Kawasaki started sourcing parts locally. The company has already discontinued the motorcycle in several international markets but its popularity has urged the company to come up with local solution to make it BS6 compliant. While we don’t have an exact timeline, the Ninja 300 BS6 is expected to arrive in a couple of months.

The Victor is quite an old and a popular nameplate in TVS’s lineup and its surprising how the motorcycle still hasn’t received its BS6 update. The company has been silently updating their portfolio with BS6 vehicles periodically and they just launched the BS6 Scooty Pep Plus as well. Still, there are quite a few products in the company’s lineup that are left to be updated to the stricter emission norms and the Victor is one of them.
