Here’s the latest report of Mahindra XUV500 crashing into a truck from behind, amidst the lockdown. See what happens to people in both vehicles.
People are still leaving their houses for a joyride in this lockdown period. Empty roads mean high-speed driving and we already have a couple of accident cases since the lockdown began. Here is one such case of Mahindra XUV500 in Gujarat.
As you can see the image, XUV500 has crashed into a truck from the rear. Reports suggest that the SUV was travelling at high speed and the accident took place in the wee hours of Saturday. The accident has led to 5 passengers killed and 1 severely injured.
The front portion of the SUV has been completely destroyed. As seen, the rear portion of truck has directly gone inside the cabin and the car is under the truck. This seems like an unavoidable mishap which could not have been prevented even in the safest car.

One thing that we can see is the impressive build quality of XUV500. Most of the body panels are still intact and at first glance, the car does not seem to have taken a major damage. The SUV is said to be one of the safest ones in the segment.
There are many severe accidents that have gone worse due to the XUV500. A couple of years back, there was a mishap which took 6 lives. The airbags failed to deploy after the crash happened. A detailed report then suggested that the front airbags need a frontal impact and also severe deceleration in some cases.
The crumple zones, its monocoque structure and six airbags make it much more safer. Other safety features of Mahindra XUV500 include front and rear parking sensors, electronic stability programme with roll-over mitigation, hill-hold and descent control, side impact beams and disc brakes on all four wheels.
