Out Of 18 Audi Cars, Only 3 Are Now Sold In India – Here’s Why!

Check out the official website of Audi India and there, you will now find just 3 cars. Here’s what happened to the remaining 15 cars.

Till March, Audi had 9 mainstream models being sold in India. Its range started with the A3 sedan and its costliest one is the A8 L. The entire range includes A3, A4, A5, A6, A8 L, Q3, Q5, Q7 and Q8. Now only 3 of them remain.

Because of the BS6 norms, Audi has discontinued its diesel engines completely. So as the original deadline of BS4 norms passed, Audi exhausted its entire BS4 stock. That includes A3, A4, A5, Q3, Q5 and Q7. So now, you can only buy the A6, A8 L and Q8.

However, these models have not been completely discontinued in India. All of them are due for a facelift or a generation upgrade. That’s when they will directly get their BS6 compliant engines. Post the lockdown, we are expecting Audi to start the launches.

As for Audi A3 and Q3, both are due for a generation upgrade. Both will get a refreshed design language with new set of engines. Both came with a 2.0 Litre TDI diesel engine which will not be available from now. A3 and Q3 are also expected to get a mild-hybrid system.

Out of them all, Q3 and Q7 are expected to be launched very soon. Along with these, all the performance models have also been stopped. There’s no update on RS5, RS6, RS7, R8 V10 Plus, A5 Cabriolet, A5 Sportback and S5 Sportback. All these were not the main volume drives for Audi, so as of now, there’s no update on when will they be launched.

Also now, there are only two engines on offer, including a 2.0 Litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol for the A6. It produces 241 BHP and 370 Nm of peak torque. The 3.0 Litre V6 engine of A8 L and Q8 produces 335 BHP and 500 Nm of peak torque.
