MG Motors will launch the Hector Plus in June this year and the SUV comes with three-rows of seating with captain seats in the second row and revised exterior styling as well.
A lot of car manufacturers are coming up with seven-seater versions of the regular mid-size five seater SUVs. That includes the likes of Tata Gravitas, a seven-seater version of the Hyundai Creta and also the MG Hector Plus. MG Motors showcased the Hector Plus at the 2020 Auto Expo and the company was planning a launch of the SUV in Q1 of FY2020, more precisely in April itself. However, with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and nation-wide lockdown in place, the launch stands delayed.
The company is still hopeful about launching the car in Q1 of 2020 itself. MG Motors have said that they are on track to launch the Hector Plus in June 2020. Essentially, the Hector Plus is a three-row version of the standard Hector and it will be launched in a 6-seater configuration with two captain chairs for the middle row. There are also talks of a seven-seater version being introduced later with regular bench seat for the middle row. Apart from extra seating, the Hector Plus also boasts of some styling changes.
The Hector Plus gets a new grille which is much sleeker than before. The bumpers have also been revised and the main headlamp cluster has also been changed for a more angular look. The DRLs at the top too have been revised. At the rear, the tail lamps have been made sleeker with a new rear bumper and new dual-exit exhaust design. The LED light bar from the Hector that is positioned on the tailgate has been removed.
The Hector Plus has grown 40mm in length over the regular Hector. It however has the same wheelbase, width and height as the regular Hector. This increase in length can be attributed to the reworked rear bumper. On the inside, the dashboard remains fairly identical to the the standard Hector and you can expect an updated software for the 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system and a new dual-tone dashboard layout. The top-spec variant will also feature a panoramic roof and MG’s in-car connectivity suite, just like the standard Hector.

The Hector remians mechanically unchanged from the standard Hector. That means it will be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol engine, a 1.5 liter petrol-hybird engine and a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The engine specs of the petrol and diesel engine also remain identical to the standard Hector. The gearbox options are also expected to be identical – all three engines come with a 6-speed manual, while the petrol models also get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic as an option.
