India-Spec Jeep Compass Facelift Spied for the First Time!

The India-spec Jeep Compass facelift will have a more significant makeover than the global-spec Compass facelift inside and out. It is expected to be launched in the first half of 2021.

Jeep recently revealed the Compass facelift for the international market and there’s one bound for India too. However, the India-spec Compass will be quite different from the global-spec Compass and it has been spied testing in India for the first time. Unlike the global-spec Compass which did not receive a comprehensive makeover in terms of design, the India-spec Compass will receive a more significant makeover. So that’s great news.

This spied test mule is however very heavily camouflaged and its difficult to makeout any of the design changes. The only change that can be spotted are the new 5-spoke alloy wheels. The new Compass wouldn’t receive any changes in its overall profile but we expect a redesigned bumper and new LED headlamps and tail lamps. We also expect Jeep to offer a few new color options with the Compass facelift.

We also expect some significant makeover to the interior dashboard design of the Compass facelift. There could also be some revisions to the color scheme and upholstery finish. The Compass facelift could also benefit from a few essential features which it currently on like a branded audio system, ventilated front seats and also a digital instrument cluster. It could also get a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Jeep’s new connected car technology.

One of the major updates could also be under the hood. The Jeep Compass facelift could be powered by FCA’s new 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine that comes in two states of tune – 130PS (6-speed MT) and 150PS (DCT). These figures are however lower than the current 1.4L petrol engine which produces 163PS of power. The 2.0L diesel Multijet engine which produces 170PS of power could be carried over unchanged with the option of both manual and automatic gearboxes.

We expect the Jeep Compass facelift to make it to India by the first half of 2021. With a significant makeover inside and out and with new features, expect the facelifted model to be priced at a slightly premium over the current car which starts from a price of Rs 16.49 lakh, ex-showroom. The 2020 Jeep Compass will lock horns with the Skoda Karoq, Volkswagen T-ROC, the facelifted Hyundai Tucson along with the upcoming 2021 Citroen C5 Aircross.
