The MG Hector Plus will be offered in three variants – Super, Sharp and Sharp – and there are some revisions to the powertrain lineup as well. Find out all about them here.
The month of July has quite a few important launches and one of them is the new MG Hector Plus. MG Motors has already started production of the Hector Plus at their Halol plant in Gujarat. Now, MG Motors has revealed the variants and specifications of the Hector Plus and there are quite a few differences to note. First up, the MG Hector Plus will be available in three variants – Super, Smart and Sharp. The base spec Style variant of the Hector will not be offered with the Hector Plus.
Secondly, MG Motors will also not be offering petrol-manual powertrain on the Hector Plus. There will be three powertrain options available with the Hector Plus – the Petrol AT, the Diesel MT, and the Petrol Mid-Hybrid MT. The petrol-hybrid powertrain is only limited to the top-spec Sharp variant and that’s the only option if you want a petrol manual variant. The deisel engine is offered on all three variants of the Hector Plus. Here’s a summary of the powertrain and variant lineup.

Essentially, the Hector Plus is a three-row version of the standard Hector which will come with two captain chairs for the middle row and an additional third row. Apart from extra seating, the Hector Plus also boasts of some styling changes. The Hector Plus gets a new grille which is much sleeker than before. The bumpers have also been revised and the main headlamp cluster has also been changed for a more angular look. The DRLs at the top too have been revised. At the rear, the tail lamps have been made sleeker with a new rear bumper and new dual-exit exhaust design. The LED light bar from the Hector that is positioned on the tailgate has been removed.

The 6-seater Hector has grown 40mm in length over the regular Hector. It however has the same wheelbase, width and height as the regular Hector. This increase in length can be attributed to the reworked rear bumper. On the inside, the dashboard remains fairly identical to the the standard Hector and you can expect an updated software for the 10.4-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system and a new dual-tone dashboard layout. The top-spec variant will also feature a panoramic roof and MG’s in-car connectivity suite, just like the standard Hector.

The 6-seater Hector remians mechanically unchanged from the standard Hector. That means it will be powered by a 1.5 liter petrol engine, a 1.5 liter petrol-hybird engine and a 2.0 liter diesel engine. The engine specs of the petrol and diesel engine also remain identical to the standard Hector. The Hector Plus will rival the likes of the Tata Gravitas, the Mahindra XUV500 and also the seven-seater version of the Hyundai Creta which will also be introduced in the future. With the pricing being announced in June, it is expected to command a decent premium over the Hector.
