Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX Improved With Its BS6 Update – Price and Details!

Kawasaki has launched the BS6 Ninja 1000SX in India for a price of Rs 10.79 lakh which is Rs 50,000 more expensive than before and it packs in quite a few new features for the additional buck.

Kawasaki had been consistently updating their entire lineup to BS6 compliance over the last month and the latest motorcycle to join the lineup is the 2020 BS6 Ninja 1000SX. The 2020 BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX has been launched in the country for a price of Rs 10.79 lakh, ex-showroom. The BS6 iteration of the Ninja 1000SX is Rs 50,000 more expensive than its BS4 counterpart.

The 2020 Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX not only comes with an updated motor but it now also gets more features. The Ninja 1000SX continues to come to India via the SKD (semi-knocked down) route as before. Kawasaki has opened bookings for the new motorcycle across all their dealerships. Can you spot the biggest difference already with the new motorcycle? Well, that has to be the new single exhaust end can design instead of the quad exhaust setup on either side seen on the previous bike.

Otherwise, stylistically, the motorcycle remains more or less unchanged. It continues with the same twin LED headlamp setup with a four-way adjustable windscreen. The BS6 Ninja 1000SX is offered in two color options in India – Metallic Graphite Grey/Metallic Diablo Black and Emerald Blazed Green/Metallic Carbon Grey/Metallic Graphite Grey. There are few additional new features on offer as well like new LED turn indicators and a 4.3-inch TFT color instrument cluster that also comes with Bluetooth connectivity.

The Ninja 1000SX continues to be powered by a 1043cc inline four cylinder engine that belts out 140hp and 11Nm of peak torque. For 2020, the engine has been updated with electronic throttle valves for more precise throttle actuation. As for electronic rider aids, the motorcycle gets three power modes and a three-level IMU-based traction control system. The BS6 iteration gets additional cruise control feature as well. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist clutch and a new bi-directional quick shifter as well.

The underpinnings of the motorcycle however remain unchanged. At the front, the Ninja 1000SX gets fully adjustable 41mm upside-down fork while the rear gets a monoshock suspension that’s adjustable for both preload and rebound damping. Braking duties and performed by dual 300mm discs at the front with radially mounted callipers and a 250mm disc at the rear with dual channel ABS. The motorcycle rides on 17-inch wheels shod with Bridgestone Battlax S22 radial tires. Updates also include slightly better ergonomics for the pillion rider with a thicker and wider seat for more comfort. The 2020 model also weighs less than before, thanks to more compact and lightweight exhaust setup.
