Leaked patent images of the Skoda Vision IN SUV have surfaced online which gives us a sneak peak at what the production-spec SUV could look like. And it hasn’t strayed far from the concept.
Skoda debuted the Vision IN in India at the 2020 Auto Expo earlier this year. The Skoda Vision IN was still a concept and only a precursor to what will be a future rival to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Hector, Tata Harrier and also the upcoming Volkswagen Taigun SUV. The Skoda Vision IN will make its debut in production form only in 2021 but ahead of that, patent images of the upcoming SUV have surfaced online which gives us a close look at what the Vision IN could lool like in production form.
When it debuts, the Vision IN will have a different name and it will be one of the first products to be based on the MQB AO-IN platform from Skoda in India. If the production-spec Vision IN turns out to look like it has been pictured here in these patent images, then it looks largely identical to the concept SUV that was showcased at the Auto Expo. This upcoming SUV looks noticeably different than the Karoq and the Kodiaq and could very well turn out to be the most handsome in its segment. The Kia Seltos might want to watch out.
Of course, the styling is still typically Skoda but its much more dynamic and aggressive. The face is dominate by an embossed butterfly grille flanked by sleek split LED headlamps on either side. The lower bumper is very well sculpted with all sorts of angles and creases and there beefy body cladding on the bumper and air intakes. In profile, there are sharp character lines from the front fender to the tail lamps and sporty looking alloy wheels with blacked-out B-pillars. The rear of the SUV is equally well sculpted as the face with sleek LED tail lamps, beefy bumpers and a rear spoiler.

These images however do not reveal the interiors of the production-spec Vision IN. It will certainly not be as ornamental and flamboyant as we saw in the concept Vision IN but we expect the same minimalistic philosophy to be carried over to the production-spec car. You can expect a large floating display on a sloping center console with an otherwise clean dashboard. The patent images also suggest that the production-spec SUV will come with a panoramic sunroof. Other notable features will include a digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Under the hood, the Skoda Vision IN will be powered by a 1.5L TSI turbo-petrol engine that we are seeing in most other Volkswagen and Skoda cars. This 1.5L petrol engine produces 150hp and 250Nm of torque and it will come mated to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. Skoda already claims the 0-100kph sprint time of the Vision IN is an impressive 8.7 seconds and it will have a top-speed of 195kph. If you were looking forward to the Creta but have been disappointed with its looks, the Skoda Vision IN is actually what you should be looking out for.
