KTM will soon be updating the Duke 250 with new full-LED headlights from the Duke 390, replacing the older halogen lamps, but with a premium of Rs 4,000, taking the price of the motorcycle to Rs 2.09 lakh.
KTM launched the BS6 Duke 250 in India earlier this year for a price of Rs 2 lakh, ex-showroom. Although the BS6 Duke 250 was only Rs 4,000 more expensive than the BS4-spec model at launch, it soon saw a hike in price of Rs 5,000, taking the price up to Rs 2.05 lakh. And now again, KTM will further be increasing the price of the BS6 Duke 250 by Rs 4,000, taking the price up to Rs 2.09 lakh. There’s however a small little update to the motorcycle with this price hike.
In this latest update, the KTM Duke 250 has benefitted with the addition of new full LED headlamps that were previously only offered on the more expensive Duke 390 and 390 Adventure models. The full LED unit replaces the older halogen bulbs with LED DRLs seen on the Duke 250. The instrument cluster however continues to be the older LCD unit and the TFT colour instrument console seen on the bigger KTMs have still been reserved for them. Interestingly, the BS6 update to the Duke 200 gave it the headlamps from the Duke 250 and now, the Duke 250 gets it from the Duke 390.
That said, there are no other changes on the motorcycle. It continues to be powered by a 248.8cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine. The engine produces 30bhp and 24Nm of torque, which by the way, are the best in class figures. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission. With the BS6 update, KTM also introduced two new colors on the Duke 250 – black/orange and grey/black. With the grey/black color scheme, the rear subframe gets painted in grey to match the colour on the tank extensions.

The KTM Duke 250 also boasts of some really premium cycle parts in this segment. The motorcycle is suspended by WP sourced 43mm upside down forks at the front and a WP sourced monoshock at the rear as well. For braking duties, the motorcycle gets 320mm disc at the front and a 240mm disc at the rear with dual-channel ABS. It is shod with 110/70 R17 section tires at the front while the rear gets 150/60 R17 section tires.

Although the Duke 250 is significantly more premium and sporty than any of the motorcycles in this segment, it is also the most expensive, even more so with this new price hike. The Duke 250’s closest competitor – the Husqvarna 250s – are based on the same platform with the same engine and premium parts but are still priced at Rs 1.84 lakh. That’s significantly cheaper than the Duke for a much unique looking motorcycle with similar levels of performance. The updated Duke 250 has already reached dealerships and will soon be officially launched as well.
