We tested out the new Hyundai Venue iMT and got to know that it is great on mileage figures. Check out our findings below!
This weekend we were busy testing out the new Hyundai Venue iMT or the clutchless manual gearbox. India’s first and one of its own kind of gearbox. We had the compact SUV for just a couple of hours but still got to test it in the bumper to bumper city traffic and long stretch highways. Best of both the worlds.
In our review video, we have explained the practicality and our experience of the Venue iMT in detail. We have also talked about its mileage figure that we achieved in this brief testing period. Taking some help from the MID, we were able to achieve an average of 15 kmpl which is almost the same as that of the manual variant.

As per the ARAI-backed figures, the fuel economy of Venue Manual and iMT is the same. The official figure of Venue Manual is 18.15 kmpl, which definitely will come down to about 14-15 kmpl in real-world driving conditions. In comparison to the DCT variants, the fuel efficiency is up by just about 10%.
In worst traffic conditions, we got the lowest figures of 9 kmpl with about 6 kilometres of heavy traffic. While highway cruising for more than 50-60 kilometres, we got a constant 20-21 kmpl running with speed between 90-100 km/hr and sixth gear applied. In regular driving conditions including sudden sprints for overtakes, braking and slowing down, we got just around 15 kmpl.
Basically, there’s no difference between the iMT and the MT variants but yes, some difference if taken the DCT variants into the count. In an automatic car, people usually tend to apply more force while accelerating which reduces fuel efficiency. However, in the iMT variant, there’s no automatic gear shifting and the elimination of the clutch won’t reduce the mileage.
