The Kia Sonet will be available in two variant lineups – GT Line and Tech Line (HT Line). The Sonet GT Line will be available in three variants – GTK, GTX and GTX+ – while the Tech Line will be offered in four variants – HTE, HTK, HTX and HTX+.
The Kia Sonet is going to be one of the most important launches of the year and its unveil is just round the corner on August 7. Ahead of its global premier, we have some new information about the variants and trims that would be available on the Kia Sonet. Just like its elder sibling, the Kia Sonet will be available in two variant lineups – GT Line and Tech Line (HT Line). The Sonet GT Line will be available in three variants – GTK, GTX and GTX+ – while the Tech Line will be offered in four variants – HTE, HTK, HTX and HTX+.
Kia will officially start taking bookings for the Sonet after its global unveil on August 7, but some Kia dealerships have already started taking bookings for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The compact-SUV will be launched in the market in the first week of September. On the Tech Line variants of the Sonet, Kia will offer the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines while the GT line will exclusively come with the 1.0L Turbo-petrol engine. Again, this is a trend that has been carried over the Seltos.
There will other differentiators setting the two variant lineups apart. The GT Line variants will come with sportier styling with red exterior accents, all-black interior with red contrast stitching and a flat-bottom steering wheel. Meanwhile, the Tech Line variants will lose out on the red accents and will come with dual-tone black-beige interior and a round steering wheel on the interiors. Interestingly, Hyundai also did something similar with the Venue by introducing a new Sport variant that distinguishes itself from the rest of the pack by some sporty accents.

The Sonet will be under four meters in length and it will be sharing its underpinnings with the Hyundai Venue. The concept version shown at the Auto Expo was in fact a close-to-production version and the final product will not look very different. The Sonet certain looks more muscular and chunkier in comparison to the Venue’s rounded proportions. While looks can be quite subjective, we really liked the detailing on the Sonet with Kia’s signature ‘Tiger Nose’ grille meshes, smart looking LED headlamps, a sculpted bonnet, a very stylish C-Pillar and LED light bar linking the tail lamps at the rear.

Kia has also recently revealed the interiors of the Sonet with design sketches and it looks far more premium than the Venue. In fact, the design is inspired from the Seltos but it gets its own unique touches as well. The instrument console and the infotainment screen are housed in the same binnacle, just like the Seltos. The AC vents and the controls however get a very unique design and the steering wheel too seems to have come from the Seltos. Like its elder sibling, the Sonet will have the upper hand over the Hyundai Venue when it comes to the features list.
