Tata Altroz Turbo Spied Testing Without Camouflage; Launching Soon!

Tata Altroz will soon get a turbo petrol engine and we have fresh spy shots of it being tested near Pune, in an uncamouflaged nature.

While there are still reports suggesting that Tata is planning to launch Altroz Turbo in India, we can now confirm that it is actually happening. Here is the said model spotted testing near the city of Pune, near Tata’s plant. This time, it has been spied uncamouflaged bearing the small Turbo badging on the boot.

While we can only see the rear portion of the car, not many changes seem to be done. The alloy wheels are also the same that comes on the top-end variant. However, one thing that we noticed that it will get a new Blue shade with blacked out roofs and ORVMs. This colour along with a couple of more will remain exclusive to the turbo petrol variants.

Mostly, the engine of Nexon will find its way on the Altroz Turbo as well. BS6 Nexon now produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of peak torque with its 1.2 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine. However, Altroz will produce 102 PS and 141 Nm of peak torque. These high power figures will make the car purely performance-focused but the fuel efficiency will go down.

There are reports also suggesting that the Tata Altroz Turbo will get a 7-speed DCT along with the option of a 6-speed manual stick. If it actually gets a dual-clutch transmission, this could be a first for the manufacturer. Also, now that the Polo DSG is gone, there’s no hatchback offering this performance-focused gearbox.

To differentiate between the regular variants and Turbo variants, there will be some cosmetic differences. That could include different seat upholstery, contrasting stitching, accents on the steering wheel and dashboard and probably sporty aluminium pedals. Other than that, it will carry the same features that come on the top-end XZ(O) trim.

The prices of Altroz petrol commence at Rs 5.44 Lakhs up to Rs 7.89 Lakhs. The turbo variants could demand around Rs 50,000 to Rs 70,000 more than the petrol variants. Expect it to be launched towards the festive season this year, as Tata upgrades its entire lineup every 3 to 4 months.
