The Hindustan Ambassador is one of the most iconic cars of the Indian automotive scene. It is also one of those cars which has had the longest runs in the Indian market. There were many factors which made the Ambassador a favorite in India – timeless design, a very solid build quality, very spacious interiors and it was also used by politicians and elites of the time for which it soon became a status symbol for many. Unfortunately, this iconic car never became a classic automotive piece.
We still have many examples of beautifully maintained Ambassadors all across the country and we would like to share one such example with you today. This Ambassador is a 1973 MarK II model and the owner has tried his best to restore the car to its original glory. And guess what, its actually up for sale. Although this is a restored model and not extensively modified, there are certain things which have been changed on the car. The most obvious of them in the stunning matte black paint on the car. The chrome parts beautifully contrast with the black color and gives the car a very unique look. There are also some parts which belong to later generation Ambassadors like the chrome grille with the turn indicators and the front and rear bumpers as well. The wheels also get the same matte black treatment with the outer ring of the steel rim painted in white.

According to the post, the engine and transmission is all original and has been restored to factory spec. The interiors too have been gorgeously restored. The seats, dashboard and the door pads get a new maroon upholstery that goes really well with the exterior color of the car. The owner has also keep all the original gauges and dials in the instrument panel. The steering wheel however seems to be from a later generation model, perhaps due to unavailability of parts.

A glimpse inside the engine bay confirms that it too has been restored to eliminate any rust issues. Overall, the car seems very well maintained with original parts and looks beautiful in this matte black color. The interiors also look very well kept.
