Here’s a Honda Jazz that has been stunningly modified into a rugged off-roader and even though it does not get a four-wheel drive system, it will go more places than most of your regular SUVs.
We have brought you many bizarre modified cars over time here but the one we have here definitely tops all of them. One of the most popular vehicles that are subjected to modifications are SUVs and the primary modifications that we see on SUVs are to make them more capable off the road. Something similar has been the thought of this modified car here – to make it a better off-road machine – except that it did not start life as an SUV. In fact, far from it, its a hatchback. This hardcore off-roader that you see here in a modified Honda Jazz. Actually, the Honda Fit as its known abroad.
When it comes to off-roading, it’s not that the biggest and the most rugged SUV will be best suited for most conditions. Sometimes, light weight and compact dimensions also play a huge role in off-roading. That is why cars like The Maruti Suzuki Gypsy or the Suzuki Jimny are such popular and adept off-roaders. A good amount of ground clearance and a four-wheel drive system along with off-road spec tires are in fact enough to make any car a decent off-roader. And that’s exactly what has been the philosophy with the modified Honda Jazz here.
Even though its just a hatchback, we must admit that the modifiers have indeed done a great job in making this Jazz look like a rugged off-roader. It really looks the part and seems really capable to handle the rough stuff. The face has been completely overhauled with a heavy-duty metal bumper with crash protection that wraps around the entire face. It not only improves the approach angle of the car but also creates a beautiful profile for the car along with the sloping bonnet. Speaking of the bonnet, that too is custom built for this car and even gets hood scoops.
The bumper also has a winch along with a pair of LED lights and another pair of auxiliary lamps. These are really useful when off-roading in the dark, trust us. The headlamps are after market units and get some cool LED details. This car comes with a fully-functioning snorkel that has been sourced from a Toyota Land Cruiser and also the flared wheel arches have been sourced from a Jeep Cherokee. There’s a heavy-duty luggage carrier mounted on the roof with another LED light bar as well. The rear gets after market bumpers with a tow hook, a spare wheel mounted on the tail hatch and a pair of jerrycans as well.

What makes this hatchback really rugged are its massive 30-inch off-road spec tires. It also comes fitted with a lift kit which further increases the ground clearance by two inches. The Honda Jazz is however a front-wheel drive car and this particular example has not been modified to feature a four-wheel drive system either. That’s because its a really complex process to make a front-wheel drive car into a four-wheel drive car and there are more losses than gains in the process. In fact, at a particular point in the video we can even see the car struggling for traction as it tries to go over a sloping loose surface.

However, the ground clearance and the off-road tires are sufficient to get this Jazz over to most places. In this video, we can see the Jazz comfortably ambling around the trail sections and it does most of the job without a drama. Of course, its compact dimensions and light weight really helps it go around. Now scroll up and watch this little off-roader do its thing as it explores some unexplored grounds.
