As Kia Sonet gets a diesel-automatic option, reports suggest that Hyundai might also equip the same on Venue, as both get the same engines.
As we see, Kia Sonet is the first compact SUV in its segment to offer a torque converter automatic gearbox with its 1.5 Litre diesel engine. Even Nexon and XUV300 offer an automatic-diesel combination, but they offer AMT. Going by this, reports now suggest that Hyundai Venue might also get the diesel-AT combo.
Sonet and Venue share all their engines, including the 1.5 Litre diesel engine. However, the automatic variants get the original engine of Seltos, producing 115 PS and 250 Nm. As for the manual variants of both, they offer 100 PS and 240 Nm. That’s due to the change in the turbocharger, as the AT variants get VGT.

Reports further suggest that the same combination from Kia Sonet will be carried over to Hyundai Venue, with the same power figures. This will help Venue with achieving better sales in the coming times. However, this will also increase the price range of the Venue, which already goes up to Rs 11.63 Lakhs.
Our dealership sources confirm that Sonet Diesel-AT has garnered a heavy demand and there’s a major chunk of buyers booking this combination. A torque converter transmission is anyday better than AMT in terms of driving and experience, however, AMT because of its mechanism is the most fuel efficient automatic gearbox.
Hyundai Venue recently got the iMT (Clutchless Manual) Gearbox on its top end variants. Basically, there’s no clutch but there’s a manual gearbox, for the comfort of an automatic and the experience of a manual stick. It comes only with the 1.0 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol engine, along with a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT.
