Maruti Suzuki have launched a limited edition Swift which brings in a dealer-level interior and exterior accessory package with prices starting from Rs 5.44 lakh. Is it worth it? Read on to find out.
The festive season usually sees a slew of special edition launches from several manufacturers. Kia and Volkswagen have already dropped the Seltos Anniversary Edition and the Polo and Vento Red and White Editions respectively. The latest with a special edition vehicle is Maruti Suzuki and they have launched a limited edition Swift with prices starting from Rs 5.44 lakh. The special edition Swift essentially comes with a dealer-level accessories package that brings some cosmetic changes both on the inside and outside.
What’s Special about the Swift Special Edition?
The Special Edition package on the Swift brings you exterior accessories such as a gloss black applique for the front grille, gloss black front, side and rear skirts, additional black-coloured side moulding, gloss black rear spoiler and black garnishes for the tail lights and fog lamp clusters. All these black exterior trims bring about a nice contrast with the body color of the car. You also get rain deflectors for all four windows and new sporty seat covers for the insides as well.
What’s the price of the Special Edition Swift?
This accessory package comes for a premium of Rs 24,999 and is available across all four trims of the Swift – LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+. Prices for the standard Swift start from Rs 5.19 lakh and go up to Rs 8.02 lakh. With the special edition accessory package, prices start from Rs 5.44 lakh and go up to Rs 8.27 lakh.

What’s under the hood of the Swift Special Edition?
There are no changes under the hood of the Swift. It continues to be powered by the 1.2L naturally aspirated petrol engine which produces 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque. The engine comes mated to either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox. Maruti Suzuki will however soon be replacing this engine with the 1.2-litre K12C DualJet engine that already does duty on the Baleno and Dzire. This engine is more powerful with 90bhp and 113Nm of torque and also gets Maruti’s mild-hybrid tech. It will thus be more fuel efficient too.

Is the Special Edition Swift Worth It?
Considering that this a dealer-level accessory package, it is probably not so much worth it after all. If these accessories came fitted from the factory, it would have been a really good deal. However, for this price, you might as well go to any aftermarket accessory shop and get these accessories fitted according to your taste and not be restricted by a package which perhaps brings some features you do not want.
