Tata Nexon has achieved a 111% Y-o-Y growth from September 2019 to this year, which is the highest growth rate registered from the compact SUV.
Tata Nexon facelift was launched back in January this year, where it got a mild cosmetic upgrade, BS6 compliant engines and some new features. It has been 3 years since the sub compact SUV was launched in India and its fan following has grown by huge numbers. For the month of September 2020, Tata recorded a 111% sales growth for the SUV when compared to that in September 2019.
In September’19, Tata Nexon recorded sales of 2,842 units in comparison to the 6,007 units sold previous month. The sales have doubled by nearly 2.5 times. However, it still is not the best selling compact SUV and takes the fourth position for the month. The first position is taken up by the latest debutant Kia Sonet, registering more than 9,000 units sold. The second place is taken by Vitara Brezza and then Hyundai Venue.

Tata Nexon has managed to overtake the sales of Mahindra XUV300, usually its fiercest competitor in monthly sales. The remaining two positions are taken up by Ford EcoSport, followed by Honda WRV. The SUV has seen a 42% growth in Y-o-Y sales from 29,113 units sold last year to 41,277 units. This particular segment has achieved the highest growth rate among others.
Tata Nexon facelift gets new alloy wheels, refreshed front and rear bumpers and new design for the headlamps. Inside the cabin, there’s addition of automatic headlamps, cruise control, rain-sensing wipers and electric sunroof. Other highlights include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual front airbags, reverse parking camera, rear AC vents, digital instrument cluster and steering mounted audio controls.
Nexon gets a 1.2 Litre three-cylinder turbo petrol motor that produces 120 PS and 170 Nm of torque. The other engine is a 1.5 Litre turbo-diesel motor that is good for 110 PS and 260 Nm. Both the engines come paired with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AMT. The prices start off at Rs 7 Lakhs up to Rs 12.70 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom).
