The Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe is just Rs 14 lakh more expensive than the standard GLC 300 and Rs 13 lakh more expensive than the GLC 300d. Local assembly has given a huge cost advantage for what would have otherwise been quite a lot more expensive.
Mercedes-Benz has launched the first made-in-India GLC 43 AMG Coupe in India today for a price of Rs 76.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India). This is the first made-in-India AMG model to be locally assembled at Mercedes’ Chakan plant. In the future, there will be a few more locally assembled Mercedes-AMG models rolling out of this plant. This gives Mercedes a huge cost advantage for its high-performance AMG models which would have otherwise come in as imports and attracted high taxes.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe price
To give you a perspective, the GLC 43 AMG Coupe is just Rs 14 lakh more expensive than the standard GLC 300 and Rs 13 lakh more expensive than the GLC 300d. That’s quite a minimal price to pay for the upgrade in performance over the standard SUV. For another reference, the pre-facelift GLC 43 AMG Coupe launched in 2017 was priced at Rs 74.8 lakh (ex-showroom, India). That would have easily crossed the Rs 90 lakh mark in today’s time. Even the new BMW X3 M – a direct rival to the GLC 43 AMG – was launched for Rs 99.99 lakh as it comes as a import.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe Design
The new GLC 43 AMG Coupe receives all the updates that came on the standard GLC SUV but then this being an AMG, it sure gets its AMG-specific updates. That includes the Panamericana grille, sportier front bumper with large air dams, side skirts, quad-exhausts, a rear diffuser element, and new 20-inch alloy wheels. There are enough elements to give away that this is no ordinary SUV-Coupe. Speaking of which, the sloping coupe roofline on the GLC 43 AMG also looks pretty tasteful.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe Interiors and Features
The insides are mostly similar to the standard GLC interiors in terms of layout and design. There are however few AMG-specific touches in the details. That includes the new sports seats, red highlights all around the cabin, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, and aluminium paddle shifters – enough to shout out its sporty credentials.
Some of the other highlight features would be the 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen with MBUX infotainment, a Burmeister sound system, wireless charging, Mercedes Me Connect, 64-colour ambient lighting, and seven airbags. The digital instrument cluster also has three AMG-specific display styles on offer – Classic, Sport, and Supersport.
Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe Powertrain
The Mercedes GLC 43 AMG Coupe is powered by a 3.0-litre, turbo-petrol V6 engine which produces 390hp and 520Nm of peak torque. Compared to the pre-facelift GLC 43 AMG Coupe, the new facelifted version is more powerful by 23hp while the torque figure remains unchanged. The pre-facelift model used an engine of the same configuration. The engine comes mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission and power is sent to all four wheels via an AMG Performance 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system with a rear-biased setup. In fact, as much as 69% of the total output is sent to the rear wheels.

The GLC 43 AMG Coupe can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 4.9 seconds while the top-speed is electronically limited to 250 kph. It also gets five drive modes to choose from – Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Individual – which allows you to adjust the car’s engine, transmission, steering, and suspension, along with adaptive damping for the latter.

Competition
At this price and specs, the Mercedes AMG GLC 43 Coupe takes on the likes of the Porsche Macan S. The 354hp Macan is priced at Rs 83.95 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Mercedes is quite a more affordable owing to local assembly and is also more powerful. As mentioned before, the GLC 43 Coupe also rivals the BMW X3 M but that is considerably more expensive for being an import. It also packs in some more performance with 490hp.
