Just as Ducati is prepping for the global unveil of the flagship Ducati Multistrada V4 tomorrow, the Italian motorcycle manufacturer has also launched the Multistrada 950 S in India. The BS6 Ducati Multistrada 950 S has been launched in India for a price of Rs 15.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Ducati has already been accepting bookings for the baby Multi for a token amount of Rs 1 lakh and the deliveries are set to commence in the second week of November.

Prior to this, the Multistrada 950 was available in India only in the standard guise and retailed for Rs 12.84 lakh. So that’s quite a premium for the Multistrada 950 S. But what does the S suffix add to the motorcycle? Turns out quite a lot actually.

Here’s what the S suffix brings on the motorcycle

The Ducati Multistrada 950 S now gets four riding modes – Sport, Touring, Urban and Enduro – which are fully customizable. It now also come with Ducati’s top-notch Skyhook EVO semi-active suspension that features upto 400 parameters and Ducati Up/Down quickshifter. Ducati has also updated the electronics package with traction control, cornering ABS, and Vehicle Hold Control. All this can be accessed via the new 5.0-inch, colour TFT display complete with Ducati Multimedia System. The motorcycle also gets full-LED headlamps with new cornering function and backlit control on the handlebars.

The Multistrada 950 S is powered by a Euro 5/ BS6-compliant, 937cc, Testastretta L-twin engine that develops 113hp at 9,000rpm and 96Nm of torque at 7,750rpm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. This baby Multi comes with a six-axis IMU from Bosch. Braking duties on the 950 S are taken care by twin 320mm discs with Brembo monobloc 4-pot calipers at the front while the rear gets a 265mm disc with 2-piston caliper. The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with Pirelli Scorpion Trail II tires at both ends.

Ducati also has a ‘GP White’ paint job for the Multistrada 950 S in international markets, but sadly, Ducati does not offer that paint scheme here in India. Ducati has confirmed that the 950 S will be sold only in the traditional ‘Ducati Red’ option. The styling is otherwise typically Multistrada with the signature beak, sleek LED headlamps and a minimalistic rear section.
