Tata Motors have added a new XM+ trim on the Altroz, priced at Rs 6.60 lakh, ex-showroom. It brings in some additional exterior and interior features from higher-spec trims for a premium of just Rs 30,000 over the XM trim.
Tata Motors have launched a new XM+ trim on the Altroz premium hatchback, priced at Rs 6.60 lakh, ex-showroom. The XM+ trim sits above the mid-spec XM trim and brings in some additional exterior and interior features from higher-spec trims for a premium of just Rs 30,000. Its however worth mentioning that the new XM+ trim is only available on the petrol version of the Altroz and not on the diesel versions.
Here’s what’s more on the new XM+ trim
The new XM+ trim additionally gets features which include a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted controls, voice alerts, and voice command recognition. These features are not offered on the XM trim. The XM+ trim also gets larger 16-inch steel wheels with new stylish wheel covers not offered on the XM trim. The XM trim comes with 15-inch wheels.
Apart from that, other features as standard on the XM trim have been carried over to the XM+ trim as well. That includes drive modes (City and Eco), ambient lighting for driver’s footwell, electrically adjustable and folding ORVMs, power windows, ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and foldable key with dual-tone horn, to name a few.
Style and Rhythm Packages on the Altroz XM trim
A lot of you may not be knowing but Tata Motors offers two accessory packages on the XM trim – Style Package and Rhythm Package – to bring in some more features from the higher-spec trim on the mid-spec XM trim. The Style package is priced at Rs 30,000 while the Rhytm package is priced at Rs 39,000. Let’s look if these packages make more sense than the higher XM+ trim itself.
Style Package (Rs 30,000) – The Style package brings in a few exterior design elements from higher-spec trims on the XM variant. That includes larger 16-inch steel wheels, contrast black roof, body coloured ORVMs, front and rear fog lamps and LED DRLs. Of these, it is only the 16-inch wheels that come as standard on the XM+ trim.
Rhythm Package (Rs 39,000) – The Rhythm package brings on some additional features and equipment on the inside on the XM trim. This package adds the 7.0-inch infotainment system and a reverse park assist camera. While the reverse parking camera is not available on the XM+ trim, it does get additional features such as steering mounted controls, voice alerts, and voice command recognition as standard, which the package does not bring.

In essence, the XM+ trim combines both exterior and interior features from the Style and Rhythm packages and offers them in a trim at a more affordable price than if you were to buy these packages individually. Still, one could say that the Style package alone is quite worth it, given that it really distinguishes the Altroz XM trim with premium styling features.

Tata Altroz Powertrain Options
The Tata Altroz continues to be powered by either a 1.2-litre, naturally aspirated petrol or a 1.5-litre, turbo-diesel engine. The petrol engine produces 86hp and 113Nm of torque while the diesel engine produces 90hp and 200Nm of torque. Both engine options are currently only offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Tata Motors is however working on a turbo-petrol variant of the Altroz that’s supposed to launch really soon. It could even come equipped with a DCT gearbox. There’s even a Dark Edition of the Altroz under works. The Tata Altroz continues to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the all-new Hyundai i20.
