The news of the 7-seater version of the Hyundai Creta has been doing rounds lately. It has been spied testing multiple times now. Again, the spy images have been surfacing on the internet. The expected price point will be around Rs 1 – 1.5 lakhs over the current 2020 Creta. Therefore, it will lie directly in the sweet spot of the SUV segment in India. Hyundai has strategically targeted the Rs 10 lakh – Rs 20 lakh segment, which is supposed to be a very lucrative segment at the moment.

It has already successfully placed its products in this price range, for example, the Venue is placed at the bottom of this price range and Creta at the Rs 17 lakh range. Hyundai has clearly experienced the positives of this segment and wants to expand further with a product like the 7-seater Creta.
What to expect from the 7-seater Creta?
Exterior
As is clear from the spy shots, the exterior will go through quite a makeover. The front grille is redesigned but the headlamp setup will likely remain unchanged. From the sides, it is clear that it will be longer than the regular Creta to accommodate a third row of seating. The rear will have an overhang because of that. Also, as a convenience for the third-row passengers, the quarter glass at the rear will be larger. This will ensure that the passengers at the rear won’t feel claustrophobic. The rear tail lamps also seem to be fresh for this car. There are a few changes on the bumper as well.

Interior
Apart from the new seating arrangement, the interiors are likely to be similar to that of the Creta. That is only a good thing because the Creta has been recently facelifted with a ton of modern design elements and features. Therefore, it is only fair that the 7-seater Creta will also get the same modern interiors. For example, a 10.25-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, Bluelink Car Connect Technology, Panoramic Sunroof, Air Purifier, Fully Digital Instrument Cluster, LED Headlamps with DRLs, 6 airbags, ABS EBD and Cruise Control.
Engine and Transmission Options
The 7-seater version of the Creta is also likely to get the same engine and transmission options as the Creta. That means, a 1.5-litre petrol with 115PS and 145Nm with a 6-speed manual or a CVT, a 1.5-litre diesel with 115PS and 250Nm with a 6-speed manual/automatic or a more powerful 1.4-litre turbo petrol with 140PS and 242Nm with a 7-speed DCT transmission. This will also make it very appealing to the buyers because they can choose from a wide variety and engine-gearbox combinations.

Predictions
The 7-seater Hyundai Creta is likely to launch in the latter half of 2021 and will compete with the likes of Mahindra XUV500 (will launch in 2021), Tata Gravitas (will launch in 2021) and MG Hector Plus. The competition will not be easy but Hyundai Creta, being the most-selling SUV in the country, will draw a lot of attention from being so popular. However, if the buyers will continue to buy the popular Creta or opt for the new options, we will find out very soon!
