MG in 2021 – Facelifted Hector and 7-seater Hector Plus Launches!

MG entered the Indian automobile market in 2019 with Hector. Hector is a 5-seater mid-sized SUV. MG decided to enter this segment because this segment has seen the most amount of growth recently. Being a new brand in the tough Indian market, MG knew what the expectations were from them. Hector was a product, full of new features, an Internet-Connected vehicle and a large SUV. They priced it rather competitively and hence were very successful. They have built on their success ever since.

Currently, MG has a 4 offerings in its lineup: Hector, Hector Plus (6-seater), Gloster and ZS EV. The ZS petrol is expected to launch in the coming year and Hector Plus (7-seater) will launch in January 2021.

MG Hector facelift launch

MG Hector will receive a mid-life facelift to keep the success of its mid-sized SUV going. The launch is planned for early 2021. The facelift will include a new front grille and much needed larger, 18-inch alloys. This will surely enhance the side-profile of the vehicle. Apart from this, there will be not many substantial changes on the outside. On the inside, however, there will be an introduction of dual-tone interiors in comparison to the sporty all-black theme that is on offer currently. This will make the already spacious cabin even more roomy.

MG Hector Plus Exterior

The mechanicals will remain unchanged and the engine and gearbox options will be identical as well. The facelift will launch in early 2021. The prices for the Hector range from Rs 12.84 lakh to Rs 17.89 lakh, ex-showroom. The facelifted Hector will command a bit of a premium over these prices.

MG Hector Plus 7-seater launch

The MG Hector Plus is currently available in a 6-seat configuration. In this version, the centre row is equipped with 2 captain seats for added comfort. But now MG is bringing the 7-seater version of the Hector Plus in January 2021. This will feature a 3-seater bench in the middle row. The exterior will remain unchanged from the Hector Plus on offer and the interiors will also be identical.

MG Hector Interiors

Both the Hector and the Hector Plus come with the ientical powertrain and transmission options: a 1.5-litre tubro petrol making 143PS and 250Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a DCT gearbox, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol with 48V mild hybid making 143PS and 250Nm with a sole 6-speed manual transmission or a 2.0-litre diesel producing 170PS and 350Nm with a 6-speed manual transmission.

The Hector Plus’s prices start from Rs 13.74 lakh and goes all the way up to Rs 18.69 lakh for the top-end trim. However, the prices for the 7-seater variant will be announced at the launch of the Hector Plus in January.
