Honda Plans To Diversify Its Portfolio – Honda City Hybrid To Be Launched Soon?

Honda has been seeing a steady rise in sales growth in India for quite some time now. Having already discontinued the Civic and CR-V in India due to lack of demand, Honda has been focusing on what drives the volumes. The two most famous and highest-selling products for the carmaker include the compact and executive sedan, Amaze and City respectively. Being known for brilliant petrol powertrains, City has always been among the leaders of its segment. The Amaze was launched much later and had to compete directly against the most popular compact sedan in the country, the Maruti Suzuki Dzire. Along with that, Hyundai Aura/Xcent has also been posing challenges to the Amaze. But Amaze had stood the test of time and finds itself among the most popular sedans in the segment.

Honda City Hybrid – Exterior and Interior

There might not be too many design and style changes on the outside of the Honda City hybrid. This is because Honda has already updated the City and is currently selling the fifth-generation model in our market. Therefore, the design language replicates that of the latest theme in Honda even in the international market. By the way, it looks at the moment, we feel that no changes are required to the exterior of the City at all. It is perfectly modern, sophisticated and undoubtedly a Honda.

The same is the case on the inside. The latest generation of the City comes with all the bells and whistles including all the modern connectivity and infotainment features, the latest safety and convenience functions as well as a powerful engine. Be it a modern Digital Infotainment System, Connected Car Tech features, Steering Mounted Controls, Premium looking cabin materials, Digital Instrument Cluster or Blind Sport Camera, multiple Airbags, Reverse Parking Sensors with Camera, Honda City has you covered in all these aspects.

Honda City Hybrid – Expected Powertrain and Prices

The Honda City comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine at the moment which makes 120hp and 145Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. There is also a 1.5-litre diesel which makes 98hp and 200Nm with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The hybrid version might come with two electric motors to assist the engine and there will be three drive modes; petrol only, electric-only and hybrid mode. According to the various situation, either or a combination of these modes could be used to power the car. We also expect prices of the hybrid version of the City to be priced at a bit of a premium over the regular City. That means around Rs 15 lakh to Rs 18 lakh range.
