Compact SUV Sales Report For April 2021- Venue, Sonet, Nexon, Magnite And More!

The most competitive car segment in India is the compact SUV segment. In this segment, there are almost all the players with their products aiming to grab a bit more market share than the other. In fact, some of the compact SUVs have been priced so aggressively that it is pulling the customers who had intended to buy a premium hatchback. At the same price, customers are opting for better practicality with a compact SUV. Let us see how the compact SUVs performed in terms of sales for the month of April 2021.

Compact SUVs

Hyundai Venue – 11,245 Units

The highest-selling compact SUV in the country is the Hyundai Venue. As a matter of fact, it has been wandering around the top spot consistently now for a long time. In April 2021, Hyundai sold over 11,200 units of the Venue in our market, compared to March, where it sold just over 10,700 units marking a modest 7% increase in sales month-on-month.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza – 11,220 Units

On the second spot, we have the popular compact SUV from Maruti Suzuki, the Vitara Brezza. In April, Maruti managed to sell over 11,200 units of the Brezza and the number was more or less similar in the month before as well. Hence, Brezza is able to maintain its position convincingly.

Kia Sonet – 7,724 Units

The sibling of the Venue, Kia Sonet, has also been very popular among the customers ever since its launch. Now, Kia has made the Sonet even more accessible by introducing some new features in the lower-spec variants as well. In April, Kia sold over 7,700 units of the Sonet compared to just under 8,500 units in March.

Tata Nexon – 6,938 Units

One of the star performers of Tata Motors, the Nexon, has achieved just under 7,000 sales in the month of April. However, compared to March 2021, this figure is down by around 20%, where it sold over 8,600 units.

Mahindra XUV300 – 4,144 Units

Mahindra XUV300 has maintained its consistent sales month-on-month. In April 2021, Mahindra was able to sell over 4,100 units of its smallest XUV family member compared to just under 2,600 units in March. This marks a significant 60% increase in sales.

Ford EcoSport – 3,820 Units

Ford EcoSport has also been around for a while and bringing in regular and substantial sales for Ford in India for a long time now. In a bid to boost the sales further, Ford had introduced the SE variants of the EcoSport recently to keep the product fresh. In April, Ford sold over 3,800 units of the EcoSport compared to just under 5,500 units in the month prior to that.

Nissan Magnite – 2,904 Units

One of the most affordable compact SUVs in the country, Nissan Magnite, has also seen some consistent sales and revived the brand. It had created a lot of buzz around its launch and has been accepted by the customers with open arms. In April, Nissan managed to sell over 2,900 units of the Magnite, compared to just under 3,000 units the month before.

Renault Kiger – 2,800 Units

The most affordable compact SUV in the country, the Renault Kiger has been bringing in a ton of sales for the French carmaker ever since its launch. In the month of April 2021, Renault dispatched 2,800 units of the popular Kiger compared to March, where it sold over 3,800 units. This is a massive decline in sales of around 27%.

Toyota Urban Cruiser – 2,115 Units

The badge-engineered Brezza, in the shape of Urban Cruiser, has been responsible for a lot of sales for Toyota. In the month of April this year, Toyota sold over 2,100 units of the compact SUV compared to over 3,100 units in March. This marks a rather huge 33% decline in sales on a month-on-month basis.

Honda WR-V – 1,194 Units

The compact SUV from Honda has seen a slight increase in sales on a month-on-month basis from a mere 978 units in March to just under 1,200 units in April. However, with the other products being really popular, it is difficult to see Honda WR-V grabbing a chunk of market share for itself any time soon.
